To prepare for Picard, what do people feel are some key TNG (and Voyager!) episodes to watch? Obviously it's impossible to say for sure, but what are generally considered important Picard centric episodes which give an idea of the makeup of the character?

For TNG, maybe:

The Measure of a Man (S02E09)
Q Who (S02E16)
Who Watches the Watchers (S03E04)
The Defector (S03E10)
Sarek (S03E23)
The Best of Both Worlds (S03E26/S04E01)
Family (S04E02)
The Drumhead (S04E21)
Redemption (S04E26/S05E01)
Darmok (S05E02)
Unification (S05E07/S05E08)
I, Borg (S05E23)
The Inner Light (S05E25)
Chain of Command (S06E10/S06E11)
Tapestry (S06E15)
Lessons (S06E19)
All Good Things (S07E25/S07E26)

Obviously there are more, but I feel that's a good baseline.

Someone should fill in a bunch of Romulan episodes here too. This should include the Tasha stories, the klingon civil war, JJ Star Trek 1, The DS9 episodess especially those with Section 31 and the Tal Shiar

Star Trek (2009) should be looked at too as it relates to certain things from a Romulan perspective from the prime timeline.

Very true, it is on the table as being relevant. Not a film I particularly enjoy though it must be said. I liked the third one best of those three JJ films.

Mentioned on another thread.

Voyager "Author, Author" should probably be looked at as it follows on from "The Measure of a Man" on the rights for AI beings issue and will probably feed into the "synths" storyline on Picard.
