Inline Extractor fan, vertical bend.

    Hi,
    I'm looking to get an extractor fan installed in our ensuite but its a bit of an awkward situation. Our en suite is below an attic room. So the vent would need to bend 90deg at the start go between the joists then 90deg bend vertically up to go above insulation into attic space (**) followed by another 90deg bend to lead it outside.

    (**) = At this point could we have an inline fan?

    I know the normal fans wouldn't work in this situation as the water would just ly in the vent. With the inline fans being more powerful and pulling the air from the side that has the bends, would this work or would there still be an issue?

    A lot of twists and turns is going to cause turbulence and resistance to air extraction. Probably best to use fixed lengths and elbows, not flexible duct.

    Hi Chris,
    Just found your query above, and you might be able to help me - I have pretty much the same situation as you.
    Can I ask how you solved it in the end, and what you used.
    I'm just finishing mine now, and unsure to vent through the soffit by cutting out for a grille, which I heard was not the best way, or installing a slate vent tile in the roof, and going up, as opposed to across the joists.

    Any information would be greatly appreciated.
