Joe's program has been sorted for today.

A Fine Gael senator and election candidate Catherine Noone called Leo Varadkar autistic yesterday.

A bit of anger about this from people who have experience with this.

    Should she step down?

Ah ffs. I am no FG fan but I get what she was trying to say here. Its not meant to be disrespectful to anyone who has austism, rather Leo shows the traits of someone with same.

    Where’s my snow, Kermit?

This woman is a walking calamity. Quite unbelievable that FG thought she made sense as an election candidate.

She has a woke pass though, so I doubt there's going to be too much of a fuss made.

Of all the words to use as an example she went for the N word :pac:

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

It's a kick in the teeth though for people fighting for better services and a better general understanding of what autism actually is, then an FG candidate with aspirations of governing this country comes out with an absolute ignorance of autism.

Denied saying it until the recording was mentioned. Ha

When I read the article I thought she said nutter not the other n word!

Bizarre choice that is unlikely to go unremarked on.

That's just offensive to people with autism, autistic people can't help how they are. Varadkar, on the other hand works hard at being an 18 karat prick.

Do you think she hung up after the call to clear things up and thought....phew that went well!

What was she on about with the N-word stuff?

As someone else alluded to, she built up enough political capital with the 'amazing brave hun' crowd via a few set-piece performances in the Seanad around the time of the 8th referendum.

She also has the classic Fine Gael smugglepuff 'to the manor born' air that a lot of their TDs have.

One has to be more careful nowadays, but a minor hiccup. Many would say Dev and David Trimble would be in the same category.

What a complete and utter brain donor. Having already been recorded saying stupid ****, she goes on to spout further stupid ****, again, while being recorded.

So if she said he is extremely sociable but not very bright and struggles with basic problems, should she not step down also?
She should step down as she's unfit for office. Even in clarifying her remarks, she showed she has little nous. Who needs her in office??

Been trying to think how can the n word be used out of context.

"Which n***er took the last biscuit?"

But that is a word that no one should use! Didn't Mary O'Rourke say it a few years ago? Enda used it in a joke!

We're going so far the other way with people determined to scorn anything they think is 'snowflake' behaviour that blatantly offensive and harmful statements like this one are defended with an 'ah ffs'.

A public representative, in particular, really shouldn't just go around saying whatever they feel like as long as they're apparently doing so without bad intentions.

I think it ties in with the Paddy Holohan stuff (his was worse) if you're a Senator or a TD or even a counsellor THINK before you speak!

She meant his empathy skills, don't deflect. The voters will have their say on her ultimately. If the Twitter nazis had their way nobody would be allowed stand for election.

Do you think it would be an acceptable comment to make if he was?

As a Man thinketh, so is he. She has revealed that she's not fit for real office, but only the bastardised Dail creche (Seanad).

what she said was stupid and also in trying to explain herself as well, FG and leo are scoring a lot of own goals in this election , I don't think her and leo get on anyway even before this !

Rubbish. She was asked for an example of something unacceptable and provided it. She's not in my constituency and I've decided NOT to give FG or FF a preference this time but normally I would be giving her a preference.

She probably attended the same F.G. P.R. workshop as Bailey, Verona Murphy, "Fornication" Mulherrin and Kate O Connell
