Bookmark retrieval

I have a dead machine but the HDD is still fully operational when caddied.

Is there any method I can use to recover my Firefox bookmarks from the caddied drive?

Was it a Windows machine? Go to x:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<Profilename>\bookmarkbackups, grab the file there and import it into Firefox.

You can grab json file OK, but how you import it?
You can restore from json file but this will overwrite your current bookmarks.

I think it might take: Restore to "old" json>export to "old" html>restore to current json>import "old" html
unless you know better way...

Yes, it was a Windows 7 machine

Export the current bookmarks as HTML, import retrieved json file (overwriting current bookmarks), import current bookmarks as HTML. Weed out the duplicates.

I'm not at the old drive at the minute, but looking at this Win 7 machine I am on now it only seems to give me the option to import from HTML in FF, nothing there to import from json.

Open bookmarks (Ctrl+Shift+B) and select Import and Backup > Restore > Choose File...
