Ceramic Disc cartridge valves leaking

    Help needed.

I have a towel radiator in the en-suite that's leaking. The valves appear to be ceramic cartridge valves (like these - https://www.ebay.ie/itm/ENKI-TA021-Kitchen-Basin-Bath-Tap-Ceramic-Disc-Cartridge-Valves-Replacement-/152715764505 ). Has anyone ever come across these being used as valves for radiator?

They are leaking from the area where the pin is. I have them fully shut off now and the leak is stopped but as a consequence there is no heating in the en-suite.

Is it possible to switch these out without draining the system?

    Thanks......

Thanks for reply. See photos attached. I've taken the levers off because when touched ot starts to leak. The one on the right is the main culprit. I've it taped up and turned nearly all the way anti clockwise which seems to have stopped it but have no heat.

Is there a way I can replace or fix without draining the heating?

    Thanks
Hi. They are usually found in taps as below:

If it is leaking from the pin on the spindle, it is prob the spindle O rings that gave gone or gotten contaminated/dirty. You can replace the O ring by taking them apart. You would have to remove the valve to do this however. You could also just replace the whole valve.

Have you an image of this rad and where the valve is located?

Could I freeze the pipes with a kit and replace the valves with normal valves?

Depends how confident you are really. You will also need the replacements valves to hand so you will need to know the exact CD valves to get (maybe call supplier so you don't have to remove to check what they are). They are readily available if you know the correct height etc.

Never done that myself but have seen the kits. Will leave it to someone who has to answer to give you advice. Still need to drain the radiator but that should be handy. I would get two of the kits if you are going down that route in case you need them and return one if you do not use.
