Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Great start

That's going to rile up the crowd.

Good stuff Ulster. Early score to get the scoreboard moving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

I'm giving Addison the credit for throwing the ball at the Bath player before he got shoved into touch. :)

Let off there for Ulster. That looked like a sitter.

Stockdale caught out pretty bad there by the bounce

Second time he's been caught by an unexpected bounce. His chip over the top bounced back over his head.

    Criminal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,721 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

That needs to be looked at, but Coetzee probably should have held onto that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,415 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

    Absolutley, card coming.

Yellow card and penalty sounds about right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,721 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Yeah that's fairly spot on, can't give a penalty try because you can't say for definite Coetzee would've gotten the pass away with Burns chasing him down from that side.

TMO trying his hardest against the decision though to say Cooney changed his line

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

That's poor by Ulster....great opportunity blown.

Ridiculous anyway. He's entitled to run any line he likes. You're not entitled to tackle a player off the ball, regardless. Meanwhile Ulster make a bollocks of the lineout and Bath are off the hook. :(

Tom O'Toole off so early is a strange call if not injured.

Tom O'Toole off so early is a strange call if not injured.

He was really slow getting up from an earlier tackle so I am not convinced it was tactical.

Ulster being uncharacteristically sloppy here. Need to sharpen up when in possession.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,501 ✭✭✭swiwi_

Last couple of Ulster games I’ve been watching balacoune. Reckon that “suspect defence” call is wrong. Seems to defend fine to me so far. I’d say stockdale is more suspect tbh.

Nice try against some awful bath decision making.

McCloskey making try-scoring passes, you love to see it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,721 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time needs to be framed and used again and again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

This is more like the Ulster I was expecting. Coaches must have handed out a rollicking at half time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

This is not a good place to have a scrum when it's creaking as badly as Ulster's is right now. :(

    Edit: Free kick. :D

Stockdale's had a few stinkers mixed with some good, would have liked to see a solid performance ahead of the six nations

Addison is class. I think Ireland should play him and larmour in the XV.

All Ulster's players having a good and bad day

  • Registered Users Posts: 380 ✭✭conor678

I think Stockdale should be rightly worried to start the 6 nations (along with some other lads). He's not been great this game or the last few when I have whatched Ulster this season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Ulster need to cut out the errors. From being in control and hunting the BP to being only 4 points ahead.

    Hilarious if this is given

Two forward passes in that exchange I think

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,721 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

There's absolutely no way in hell that pass from Marshall was flat, the Cooney one actually looked borderline in fairness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Yeah. The one from Henderson looked forward as well. And also the one from Marshall.

Ulster really struggling in the scrum.

    Has to be red

That is woeful stuff, I know we talk about the speed of the game and smaller players on front rowers and dipping etc, but he made absolutely no effort to bend there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,279 ✭✭✭ongarite

    Won't be a red IMO.

Stonewall if the ref and TMO have any common sense. Shoulder directly to the head with no mitigating factors as Cooney wasn't even dipping really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Hope Cooney's OK. That was the equivalent of getting a right hook to the jaw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69,950 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

Far too much faffing about, that was a red, no need for discussion about it.

    Well I was wrong.
Would have been 14 till end of game anyway.

Yeah, knew it was red the minute I saw it. TMO seems to be a pedantic git.

What would BP do for Ulster chance of easier draw for QF?

I don't think it can do much now seeing as Clermont have topped the group, they'll get top runner up with 4 points as it is

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,375 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Shanahan looked like he copped a high hit there too. But it's over and Ulster are through. Thank Fup.

Yeah, Ulster are locked into 6th place with any kind of win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,721 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

Hopefully Cooney's alright, was a serious shot he copped.

Addison really stuck his hand up to give Farrell a bit of a headache when selecting his back three, and Burns put down a marker too.

Addison has to start for Ireland. Has so much more intelligence than Larmour, which you need at FB.

Great point, Addison has a degree in business from the University of Manchester and Larmour only has a certificate from Griffith College.

Stockdale is like the centipede that was wonderfully co-ordinated until somebody told it it had 100 legs and it started to think about it and trip all over the place.

He has lost that spontaneity that gave him an edge at the key moment. Thinking too much maybe. If he makes the team it will only be on his potential not his form imo.
