Incredible drummer and song writer. Lived through terrible personal family tragedies, passed away from a brain tumour. Rush were a far better band than they get credit for and he was their engine room.

2112 is my all time favourite album. The 'A' side is nothing short of incredible, actually gutted here

Let’s be thankful we existed as the same time as the man. Journey well Neil.

Moving pictures, my brother (older than me) introduced me to their music. Amazing musician and a genuine loss (in this day and age) to music.

Sad to hear, incredible drummer, RIP Neil.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Very sad news one of the great drummers

Felt odd I heard the news by checking FB on the bus after coming from an event at the 3arena. Why it's odd is that Rush was the first band i saw live in the 3arena (the o2 then) on my own in 2011

I was there, wearing a Signals t-shirt. It was such a thrill seeing them.

Xanadu is easily one of the best songs ever written, worth a spin.

Neil Peart, one of the most, if not the most, talented drummers to ever hit the skins, a true giant of the music world.

All the band are phenomenal musicians, and their lyrics are worthy of a poetry book, they are just that good.
I am genuinely saddened by this, Rush were a massive part of my youth.
    RIP

Heard of Rush of course but never gave them a listen.

I play drums but having watched the clip above I'd be embarassed to call myself a drummer. Fantastic skill.

    RIP Neil Peart.

His drums were hot but his lyrical clarity when tackling complex and tricky themed was peerless. Be it allegories about the relationship between the USA/ Canada, aging and life after his wife and daughters death he nailed it with a stripped down sophistication.

Oh wow :( , absolutely gutted to hear this, love rush, RIP.

Here he is playing my favorite rush song YYZ.

    "The robin in the garden,

    That was me,

    I'm still here, Loving you..

    Until we meet again. "

I remember buying their brand new 2112 LP. Seems like only a few years ago.
    Exceptional musician. RIP.

I admit I heard of them but never ever listened to them and didn't plan on investigating them. Until Tom Sawyer was played on the radio by I think Ian Dempsey in recent years. I couldn't believe how good a song it is. It's unreal.

This is a real loss - a fantastic musician. Met a drummer friend of mine yesterday evening who saw Rush fifteen times all over the globe who was in some form of shock and denial on hearing this news. There is a wake of sorts happening later today.

Amazingly i managed to fit into my Signals Tour t shirt, bought at Wembley arena in May 1983 for the Dubin show. 30 years of live shows for me, from that night in Wembley 83 to the Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam in June 2013. They were the soundtrack of my life. Through the late 70s till the early 90s, their music was inspirational for me. I still cant get over how upset i am at his passing, even now, 24 hours after hearing the news.
All those years, before the internet, when i think many of us, only knew a handful of people who liked Rush. Could i have imagined back then, that id still be a fan, forty years later? Im gutted Neil is gone, but im delighted i have had his music in my life. Altho the Dublin show was great, i think the greatest night for me, was R30 in Birmingham, Septembe 2004 . Last time i had seen them before that was may 88 and i was convinced they would never tour Europe again. What a night!!!

I couldn't make it when they played Dublin. My Dad got me into them when I was a nipper, 2112, Hemispheres, Caress of Steel and A Farewell to the Kings being particular favourites.

I've to give my bike a once over now and am going to blast the above in the shed
