Yeah the Iranian government astroturfing on r/worldnews I think has been proven?

Really? That's gas, and entirely believable. Tbh depending where you go on Reddit you can see it coming from lots of places.

Doesn't seem to be that many users though at least those highlighted by third party investigation

Boards has the opposite problem though, where completely bonkers viewpoints are given completely equal footing with things most people would find reasonable, so that the window of what we might consider reasonable becomes very different to what it is in the general discourse. I think that's why the discussions on boards always seem so completely reactionary and dominated by people nobody would normally care about it listen to, who then believe this is proof they're being "silenced" elsewhere.

We can also see how much the boards approach enables trolling, from the Martian Finucane thread yesterday, where a few complete spanners rattling on about the tv licence and being incredibly disrespectful of the memory of the subject of the thread completely drowned out the general tone of respect. Those clowns would have been rightly downvoted to oblivion in Reddit and most people wouldn't have ever seen them. Here, instead, the thread had to be deleted.

I see the argument for an all posts are equal approach, but no need to pretend it's without its flaws

I think the main problem in boards is that big threads can become unwieldy. Great posts can get buried in long discussions. Come along to a hundred page thread you're only going to look at the first and last page.

Reddit comments can become complete rabbit holes. While the chronology of boards is great for certain things, at least it is a bit easier to keep track of who is replying to who on Reddit (in long conversations)!

Yeah, you can go to subreddits like RoastMe, sort by top of all time and spend an hour laughing. Boards doesn't have that

I find reddit ireland very woke but at the same time many posters have a virulent hatred for the English. Its a bit strange.
