Nobody I like, I wouldn't subject them to that.

I think John Giles got one when he turned 60.

What i meant is that Claire Byrne has all the qualities to have a great and long career in serious broadcasting. She has substance and ideals.

From the RTE pantheon, there are five, of which two are now sadly gone. Pat Kenny would be of equal rank to Marian, so is a sure thing. Tubridy next and already a sure thing, and will probably even get close to Gaybo in time. They only other two of that league are Marty Whelan, and Ray Darcy who would both deserve it.
George Hamilton probably the first near miss, but while he had a variety of ventures, the majority was too sports niche to make full blown LLS tribute level. The Duffmeister is just too low brow and wishy washy to make that grade either.

It's Yates and I think he has had a fascinating career and is a superb interviewer.

More hope of me getting an lls special than Ivan Yates.

I reckon Joe Duffy has his own lls special precorded so he'll be star of the show for whenever he pops his clogs.

A few other possibilities, not who I'd necessarily want personally..

Saoirse Ronan, long time away hopefully. Just to note Sharon Shannon had one at 22 in 1992.

    Padraig Harrington.

    Sonia O'Sullivan.

If Brian O'Driscoll passed before his time or Roy Keane?

The Marys, McAleese and Robinson are nailed on. I'm not looking forward to McAleese trying to steal the show on the LLS tonight with her usual verbal diarrhoea.

    Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh is ironclad.

Good time to do it being now, he is 90 next August so be nice sometime in his 90th year to have a tribute. Last year too would have marked the 70th year since his first broadcast...

I got to meet the man briefly for a few minutes earlier last year and he is an absolute gentleman.. still sharp as a tack and had great time and interest in talking to ‘everyone’ in the setup. Real nice guy and for his years he looks in fantastically good health...

Yates is all that's wrong with Ireland. An elite who played the system set up for him and his ilk by similar elites.Yates is a loudmouth, bluffer, bankrupt and a chancer and people are scared of him.

I'd hate to be dead and not hear all the lovely things people think about me.

Would rather have it when I'm alive. But I'm a nobody anyway so it doesn't matter, just making the point.
