Very strange that both children are gone. I don't know who is responsible for the girl, but Mahon was convicted for the boy. He's probably out now anyway.

The bio Dad, I don't know how he carries on really. My sympathies to him.

Amy is the older in age version of Madeleine McCann disappearance. Gone, no body, no information, many suspect someone but nothing. If there is no evidence, nothing will happen, unless someone with integrity and compassion comes forward.

Another episode in this horror story. DPP might bring a s.4 charge I.e. assault causing serious harm.

Naturally, Mahon wanted the case to proceed today under s.3 (simple assault) but the Judge had to remind his Counsel that the prosecution was still awaiting medical evidence (I.e. has the alleged victim recovered from his injuries).

The stepfather of missing Irish teen Amy Fitzpatrick has again appeared in court over the alleged assault of a pensioner.

Dave Mahon, 51, from Breffni Crescent in Carrick-On-Shannon, is accused of assault causing harm to Jim Fahy, 70, in August 2021.

Mr Mahon appeared on Tuesday morning before a sitting of Carrick-On-Shannon Circuit Court - accompanied by his wife Audrey - the mother of missing Amy, who vanished from the Mijas Costa area of Spain in 2008.

The court today heard that there was an “outstanding issue” with disclosure in the case.

It also heard that a request was made on behalf of Dave Mahon for disclosure in relation to the case but it has not been accepted by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court heard that this issue will have to be "dealt with at some stage." Judge John Aylmer adjourned the matter for next term - meaning the case will not be heard again until May.

When the case was heard in May 2022 the court heard that Mahon was “anxious and ready to proceed.”

Mr Mahon is the stepfather of Amy Fitzpatrick, a 15-year-old Irish teen who vanished from the Mijas Costa area of Spain on New Year's Day 2008.

You'd be worried at the idea of anyone accidently crossing paths with Mahon in Carrick. He strikes me as a rather hot tempered and violent individual.

Strange strange setup.

I sat across from them on the train years ago. They were talking about selling a story to a journalist.

I'd imagine there is a lot of control and abuse at play there.

They still holiday in costa del sol you know. He had interactions and relationships with serious crime and gangland scumbags. I had read that there is a theory the young girl fell foul of one of them maybe.

Who knows at this point. Their extended holidays are obviously spent in classy irish pubs getting wrote off.

I dont think there was any-one questioned about her disappearance. It was treated as missing/runaway ... no big search or investigation..... poor Amy

Carrick-on-Shannon is an absolutely brilliant town. It's spotlessly clean, has great restaurants, right beside the river. A gem, and what small towns in Ireland should aspire to and advocate for.

Was up there a few months though, and there's a nasty undercurrent running through it.

Doesn't surprise me to see a lad like that living there.

i wouldn’t imagine she’d be alive. To go missing at 15.. don’t matter what perceived smarts, or maturity a 15 years old possesses…. To earn a living, in a foreign country, provide accommodation for herself and to live some degree of a normal life, unnoticed ? Incognito ? As a 15 year old ? She didn’t have fluent Spanish so she’d be noticeable, traceable…it’s a strange one.
