What exactly are they doing over there? Sick of the love in with the army abroad and the "great work" they do... Meh...

Get them home here to help the Garda with the armed scum terrorising neighborhood.

Okay look I stand corrected. I apologise to those who I offended. I didn't do my research in fairness and I received a few pm from those who had lost friends and family members.

Hopefully they will accept my apologies

These wasters? Why don't you enlist so and show them how it's done.

    This too shall pass.

I've edited my original post. Can you explain to me what is it they do then? Maybe wasters wrong terminology but still not convinced they do this fantastic job that's portrayed...

Oh yes, but how long have they been in Lebanon now? Why don't they come home and utilise all the skills they have in Ireland?

    are you actually serious?
you do know they change personal every 6 months?
the mission is still ongoing, do you think Ireland should jsut pull out of their peacekeeping duties overseas?

    https://peacekeeping.un.org/en/what-is-peacekeeping

Im sure this must be a pisstake, but you should probably educate yourself anyway

When you call our peacekeepers “wasters”, it says more about you than I could put into words.

I’d get banned if I told you what I really think of you and your post.

And you don’t know the meaning of the word ‘classy’.

Yes I do actually, portraying this Irish is great little island making peace all over the world, was Shannon not used by the yanks while they bombed innocent civilians? Hypocrisy at its finest. Definitely have chip on our shoulder, small country mentality, same as the "great" Irish fans traveling with the Irish football team, only interested in having the "craic"

    Vomit inducing......

Have to say, there's some ridiculous off the wall type moronic posts on the AF forum, but this is really plunging into new depths of pure Sh***baggery of a topic to bring up in a public forum!

    this is ridiculous.
the Irish Army do not participate in Peacekeeping missions because we think 'we are a great little country'
read the link I posted and educate yourself on something.
trying to equate men & women being deployed on overseas peacekeeping missions with Irish soccer fans is just ridiculous.
There are members of the defence forces on here, Im sure they will along shortly to give you some education.

OP , maybe you should go out there for a while and see what they do.
Try getting shot and and you'll see what life is like for them.
Brother did 2 tours in the Leb along with Kosovo and Africa.

Heres a link to the UNIFIL Mandate OP...not that it is what you are looking for.

The job isnt as demanding as it was in the 80's and 90's, thankfully, as a some lads have been killed due to the past conflict.

Yes, downtime would include playing video games and physical activity is encouraged.

Well, theres plenty of troops on island to utilise there skills if requested.

If you want them to do more, campaign with your local political representatives.
