Good article on the type of shtyle Larkham has implemented.

Some good ideas - but would question having Earls in as a distributor. Not his forte!

JJ, Carbery and Scanell should really prosper.

    https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/12/18/how-stephen-larkham-is-finding-his-feet-at-munster/

Some of the comments are interesting - saying that Larkham was rigid in the patterns he tried implementing at Brumbies.

Think most of internationals are due to be rested alright

Internationals must have two consecutive weeks off over the Christmas period...none can play Leinster but some can play in one or other of the other two games.

Was a bit surprised to see CJ and Kleyn start after the shift they both put in vs Sarries. We are going there to win this one for sure.

Was listening to the Molecast earlier and they mentioned JVG was complaining about not getting full access to the internationals? Did he really?

Can’t say I’ve heard anything at all tbh. If there was anything to it, I’d expect to have heard it from other (possibly more reputable) sources.

They mentioned it a few times, said he should have known what he was getting himself into

I just found it strange as you would expect that to have made the news.....

This is what? Third hand news? JVG doesn't strike me as the type of guy who whines. He may have said that they couldn't play the internationals over xmas. And then the Chinese whisper crew decided that that constitutes him calling out the system.

If you don't have a direct quote from the man, then why are you wasting our time?

If there was anything to it, it would have made the news. Matt O'Connor got slated for it a few years ago across loads of national media outlets. A quick google returns nothing at all. It sounds like the Molecast lads are way, way overstating whatever was said; that's if anything at all was said.

Could you link the chat and time when this happened?

Found it. What a load of bollox. Guy says JVG was complaining, but he never said a thing on the interviews. So these bozos would seem to be the Fox news of punditry. Make something up and then give out about him, sorry but that's not punditry, that's just ****e.

Sweetnam played in the first three games.

Hes a bit of a loss especially when you think he started against Saracens in the SF last year and with Earls and Conway regulars in the Irish squads

Silver lining, It has afforded more gametime to the likes Daly (who has looked really good) , Coombes and Nash

I genuinely thought he has been injured since the beginning of the season

You are looking at his previous post which he quoted for reference, that was after 6 matches.
The relevant post is below the quoted part, which is totalling 12 matches.

Carbery to start next week so in Ravenhill. Maybe Munster could finally break their duck, that ground has become a graveyard for the usual second string we (are forced) to send. Since Murray, Earls and Conway (RTTP aside) didn't play against Connacht, I imagine they will be available. 3 weeks off seems excessive bar injury. Kleyn, Stander and Farrell played in Galway so they definitely won't be available.

Edit: A google tells me Munster won there in October 2016, I can't say I remember that game!

Did Rory Scannell score a penalty or DG to win that match or did I completely invent that in my head? (strong possibility).

Just watching it on Youtube and Scannell did indeed kick a DG on 75'.
    I don't remember it at all! :o

Edit: Axel died two weeks previously, that might explain not remembering this game...

Oliver and Botha to be released, JOS deserves a senior contract and will be starting 8 within next couple of years, hopefully hornet can push on at 7 in academy games and if not could see POM play a lot of 7 as his career winds down in next 3/4 years

Kevin O'Byrne - his situation probably depends on the development of Barron and Clarke.
Dave Kilcoyne - One of the most important to retain.
Liam O'Connor - Release. Development hindered by injuries, Loughman's recent form probably makes him surplus.
    Jeremy Loughman - Keep
Stephen Archer - Keep, but with a view to developing Knox to take his spot.
    Brian Scott - Release
    Ciaran Parker - Release
Billy Holland - Release. He's been a brilliant player but it's time to move on if he's not outright retiring anyway.
Sean O'Connor - No idea, his situation depends on others.
    Darren O'Shea - Release
    Arno Botha - Release
Conor Oliver - Release, pity about his injuries.
Jack O'Sullivan - Keep, he looks great.

Jack Stafford - Release, four scrumhalves are already signed up.
    Sam Arnold - Release
    Dan Goggin - Keep
Alex McHenry - No idea, his situation depends on others.
    Andrew Conway - See Kilcoyne!
    Liam Coombes - Keep
Alan Tynan - Release, based on his lack of appearances.

I'm sure a few of these could come up to Conn, was Arnold any good ?

Arnold is only 23, he'll still do a job for Munster. Just feels like he's been around forever cause he started so young at Ulster.

Arnold still could do a job but if DDA is signed I don't see a spot for him. You'll have Scannell, Goggin, Farrell and DDA in the squad.

It's a choice between Arnold and McHenry.

If Munster are going to release that many players, they will need to be very busy in the signings market over the next 3 months.

I'd be shocked if they released that many players. If Arnold leaves, it will be for financial reasons or his own decision.

People forget that Arnold is IQ through family and is born and raised in England. I'm sure he'll have offers on the table from the Premiership.

I count 10 outright releases and that includes academy players who don't get moved up. They had about the same last summer.
It's also based on Snyman and DDA being signed as rumoured.

They probably keep Scott or Parker for numbers at TH so that makes 9 releases then.
