Miriam was in spraying the WD40 during the Séan O'Rourke show yesterday and made a pigs mickey of things. In contrast Ronan Collins has the Sunday 10AM show and is a delight to listen do, with far less of the simpering interviews of her obvious coffee buddies.

Later that day, Matthew Corry strayed out of the Lyric Studio and covered Monday's Late Date.

It’s that time of year again!!!!!

Who will get the most time off
Who will jump from the pack.
Who will be the surprise packet of the slumber season.
Will that great man Mr J, Jackson appear from ‘nowhere’

How many repeats will there be

It’s coming up on the horizon..... the sleepy season(for Montrose) is upon us.

Fasten seatbelts, gonna be a bumpy ride.

I think Ms Forbes has cancelled some of the Christmas leave cos I heard Tubs say last week that he would report back on something in the New Year and then he said oh no we are on in the in-between, I'll report back then.

Tubs on tv duty tomorrow and Friday, must be a couple of pre recorded Late Lates on the way

Couple of good ones on Christmas Day on R1:

South Wind Blows - Winter Session at 2 pm - Conceited man whispers at us about the 'edge of Europe' etc. for 2 hours.

Baz and Nancy's Christmas Party at 4 pm - no details available

All Star Requests with Michael Cahill at 6 pm - Michael 'The Kid' Cahill is joined by some famous names (none specified) to pick their favourite Christmas song of all time.

Also, one to look out for on 2FM at 12 on Christmas Day: Lottie's Celeb Christmas

Couple of Joe Duffy extras for the Christmas Season on R1 which should be highlighted, lest you think he's not worth his "fees"...

9 am St. Stephen's Day, a rare chance for Radio 1 to dwell on death and how de peeple doyed in "Legacies" with the Trinity graduate and acclaimed, part time, artist.

On Sunday December 29th: 'Cohen Heads' - recorded at the "All Together Now" Festival, an, ahem, "in depth" conversation between the Ballyfermot native and writer and RTE pensioner, John McKenna about the life, career and legacy of singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen.

Christ almighty.... 'Cohen Heads'. It's like a parody.

Anyway, that should put to bed all arguments and bad feeling about being over paid, teachers holidays, etc.

And they are off..... Drivetime finishing at 1800 hours and a guy called Neil Doherty coming in.

Our man who nobody knows what his day job is , Mr Leo Enright was on this morning.

No sign of Mr Jackson yet, but while the rest of the country in the entertainment, hospitality, transport, food products gear up for the holiday season, RTE the Public Service Broadcaster goes into hibernation....

Nice gig if you can get it.... keep your ears open.

Presume Ronan Collins is the ‘main man’ out there over the Christmas? Might persuade Dave Fanning to make a few appearances on the airwaves as well.

    What!!!!

Not a chance.... someone you never heard of ,John, will fill in and the podcasts will be on overdrive.

Forget about any attempt to give the hard pressed licence payer the latest world and local news..... nah John, she’s on, what do call that stuff on the phone, low battery mode or something.

Keep your ears open, licence payers.

Well done on finding the off switch.

Finding news / current affairs media reporting increasingly irritating. Imagine my delight this AM when I picked up https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000cks3 . Who is the George Parker of Montrose ?

( not for historians : beeb link probably expire mid Jan 2020 ... edit : seems Im wrong on that :) podcasts going back to the time of William IV available https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qjfq/episodes/player )

Mooney Santa on R1 now. Fran Dempseys been donning the red suit for this slot for 45 years by all accounts. Probably recorded in advance.

They could have done with the tape deck just now as they missed the soloist's rendition of Once In Royal David's City at the annual carol service from St. Patrick's Cathedral

Ronan seems to on the two hour special.

Is is not time after at least 10 years of the same format for something different ?

Is there any imagination out there or is the auld ‘tape recorder’ the go to guy.

Drivetime confined to one hour, 50 mins taken up with a John Delaney ‘expose’ which everyone already knows about.

    Extremely lazy output.

To be honest, Mary Wilson should be the stand in XMAS presenter and not the full time presenter. So it does not make any difference really.

Damien in with a few voice overs, rest of Countrywide I would suspect was recorded.

The bould Ronan is the early leader in the the ‘Tape Deck Tzar’ title for this season.

In the ‘Where did these spring from’ section. Neil Doherty has the lead.

Feel free to nominate your heros and heroines...?

and not a word of apology either at the end of the broadcast -- shocking.

"And next, Brenda Donoghue meets the people who work at Barrack Obama Plaza, all day and all night".

What?? Let me get this right, you are doing a radio documentary on somebody who works in a petrol station?

Of course, in true RTE style, we get dead parents, heart disease and cancer.
