It's not exerting power. It's my honest opinion (one you are proving more and more with each post)

    What power is it exerting?

I am able to have a conversation with you, without saying, "nothing you say is to be taken seriously" and "you are unwell",

I guess it is the difference in our maturity levels. Learn from this.

And don't call me mentally ill ever again. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    Why? You're not his mother.

Yeah, I'm not saying your the reporter in disguise, or something equally silly, but there's an interesting similarility to the bolded part and the reporters 'do better'.

It's like some weird abusive mother or seeing a man as a dog or something. Maybe it's a sign of a woman who just dislikes men?

sexual battery sounds far too harsh, a simple 3 night jail sentence would be more appropriate for such a small offence.

I would be only happy with this if they burnt more bras.

Not enough bra burning these day if you ask me.

People need to burn more bras and slap less arse. Otherwise society is doomed.

There is too much plastic in the modern bra, it is destroying sea life and polluting our bodies.

Is trying to exert your power over some one?

Let me guess — he took your power and now you're taking it back?

A police caution is more than sufficient. There's lads running around with 90 convictions and you want to take up cell space for slapping a backside.

But surely if you were sexually assaulted you could be at risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease ?

    An absolutely absurd contribution.

What if someone is wearing a Draeger CPS 5900 and a strap on?

    It sure does.

It shows that I am able to have an honest conversation and base my opinion on what people say and do, not what I CLAIM they say and do.

I think it highlights what an absurd scenario it is.

There is a big difference between a friendly slap on the arse and a sexual assault.

Not every slap on the arse is sexually motivated.

Again, I'll point out that this whole situation is so absurd that I am liking posts that are saying 'friendly slap on the arse'. Really, I actually think it is bad, but the treatment of that man is making me side with him tbh.

Also, I don't agree with this whole 'take back your power movement'. It is very 'objectifying', toxic and various negative aspects.

On the flip side, I am sure rapists are 'taking back their power' in their head tbh.

    Crikey, I feel reborn.

And no I won't be posting a picture of a strap on.

My wife isnt a snoflake by any means but a guy she works with slapped her arse at her work christmas party on friday and shes quite upset about it. She completly agrees with the feelings expressed by the reporter. Me, fcuk that guy hitting my wife

Slapping anyone isnt ok. If you think it is you are wrong. If you think people are over reacting about it you are wrong. If you dont take the side of the person who was slapped and acknowledge they have the right to feel anyway they wish about it you're a victim blaming tool and you're wrong.

In short, the reporter was slapped by a randomer when doing her job and it shouldn't have happened and if him getting the book thrown at him for this behaviour deters others from doing this then this is a social change for good.

Do you think this fella at the office party should go to prison?

The general consensus from those posting in favour of punishing him is that he deserves everything that's coming to him with other posters pointing out that the charge carries a 12 month sentence or 5k fine. Do you think that an equitable punishment?

I think it is a different context. Your wife getting molested at a Christmas party is a different scenario. It is predatorial and borderline bullying. Someone is probably abusing their position in such an instance and it is massively inappropriate.

But this reporter is live in front of thousands of people and her arse is slapped by a stranger who is just having a laugh. The incident happened during a marathon, it is a completely different scenario.

There is a difference between abusing someone and trying to have laugh.

Not every arse cheek that is slapped is slapped in a sexually threatening way. This needs to be understood. I have had my arse slapped and pinched by colleagues ( male and female ) in the past. I got over it. It can be inappropriate and if I had an issue with it I dealt with it myself politely, I did not feel hurt or threatened. I don't think arse slapping is a sexual assault if I am honest.

I can only speak for myself, but I of course, think the man was 100% responsible for his actions and he should be held 100% accountable as he was100% wrong.

How she reacts after the incident is 100% on her. She can feel however she wishes. She was in no way to blame for that man's actions. But it isnt incumbent on me to agree with what I perceive to be an over reaction to an admittedly ****ty thing.

Depends. What book should be thrown at him? Should it be a custodial sentence? I don't think so. Would you be more upset if a man had smacked your wife in the face? Should sexual battery really be the correct description of what occurred?

Is a snack on the arse really sexual? Is a smack on the arse really battery? I suppose legally, yes it could be. I just think it's too extreme a description and lessens the impact of the words.

Of course not. I doubt he will get a custodial sentence. I don't think anyone has said that but maybe i missed it.

Still think he should be charged. He slapped somebody's arse without permission

It's been said multiple times throughout the thread. What does charging him achieve that public humiliation and a police caution wouldn't

Yes the idea of sentences is to deter supposedly. I doubt he will slap anything after this. Nothing more than the publicity needed.

    Here’s one example:

Ya I seen that one myself.
You said few though. Where are the rest of them?

Or, were you deliberately exaggerating the post of one person to mistepresent the attitude on the thread?
If not, then by all means, post the others...

If someone was playing football, saved a penalty and a team mate or supporter came over and kissed him on the forehead or slapped him on the arse, would that be grounds for sexual battery?

    If not, why not?

There's one who said they won't stop slapping arses. There are others who've disputed that it's a crime. That's all I have.

So you can disagree with me or disagree with them. Depends on your priorities I suppose.
