this might be a stupid question (not a plane expert) but in that 3rd image, has that plane got both propeller and jet engines?

It's carrying the turboprop as a complete test engine; there's probably a station inside with engineers recording all of the parameters from the engine. The host aircraft will take off and stay aloft on three of it's own engines easily enough and they can start and stop the test engine as it suits them.

Flew on this helicopter on a few min scenic flight over St PEtersburg.... highly recommended. Helicopter was immaculate and allot quieter inside than I anticipated.

Brand new Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350-1000 (replacing the Boeing 747s) is doing training flights out of Glasgow Airport last couple of day. It flew over my house this morning

Went to Oshkosh about 20 years ago , took my time and visited loads of small fields .

one had this lovely example housed.

it's a shame the owner was a horrible racist who started ranting about what he would do with black people ( throw them into the prop ) ..... he insisted on moving his car into shot.

We took our photo's , made our excuses and beat a hasty retreat .

The incident sticks in my mind to this day

Ohhh and BTW Oshkosh was fantastic !

    Today?

Reason for asking is because a plane similar to this (may even have been the same) was in Dublin Airport a few weeks ago.

he needs to get a few painters on the job, otherwise he'll have a nice pile of corroded aluminium in a few years.

Battle of the giants, unfortunately the A380 was too far away for a good photo

Great photos Smurfjed. Mind me asking whose colours the 747 is in - Saudia? I love those 747 freighters. There was one in Dublin yesterday...If I remember correctly, it belonged to Atlas.

    Thanks for the photos!

That A380 has an almost ghostly appearance there against the dark Mayo skies. The spirit of the former Air France craft?

For some reason it reminds me of The Doors song 'Riders On The Storm'

Took these while I was in Sydney last year. Can't remember if I've shared them already but in light of them being retired this weekend I though I'd post them. Taking on a camera phone so quality isn't the best.
