If they do it dramatically, e.g. like Liverpool v Everton last season when Klopp ran on the pitch, then yes I could see it happening. But I wouldn't expect it to be much of a celebration if they score earlier.

I actually fancy United in this one anyway. If there's a display from Jose it'll be down to conceding or a penalty or something.

I think Spurs will get at least a draw. Anyway we don`t have very long to wait to see what happens.

Liverpool fans are nicer than Arsenal fans? I'd beg to differ. Leicester is a dream gig. Great set of young players, really good owners and the media pays rarely bothers you.

Not at all. Liverpool fans would have driven Kroenke out long ago.

Rodgers would be wise to join Arsenal right now :)

While Arsenal is a bigger job, much like Utd, I'm not sure the owners match the fans' ambition.

Christ. That gap back to Leicester and City is even more stark when presented like that.

Watford to Arsenal is the same gap as Liverpool to City.

Lol, are you actually worried about Leicester?

Fans want silverware and titles. The owners of the top clubs want CL football. Are the Liverpool owners really bothered about a PL title? I'm not so sure. If they finish top four with no trophy, they'd be happy. The Arsenal board were more than happy with Wenger when he did that for them, season after season. When he failed to qualify for the CL, things started to change.

I can't imagine Klopp getting the same treatment as Wenger did even if he's not there as long or doesn't win as much.

Did we even boo Hodgson, I genuinely can't remember? We didn't fly any banners over the ground, I'd have remembered that. F**k it I should have flown the plane myself.

Houillier won plenty of trophies and he was treated very badly when they wanted him out. Was at a game in Liverpool at the time and the fans were singing "Allez, allez Houllier on your way". If things went downhill on the field at Liverpool, Klopp would get it in the neck pretty quickly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,428 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

Houllier left by "mutual consent". He said at his bye bye press conference that if they want to go back to the 70s and 80s they can do it without me. He bought Diouf but more importantly he sold Fowler. FOWLER!
He was lucky he wasn't tarred and feathered and dragged out of town on a pole.
Yikes I got so angry there I realized why everyone hates us.

I wonder would Rafa take the Everton job? They have a good squad and money. He lives in the area and it's over nine years since he lost the Liverpool job.
It'd make sense for him and for Everton.

I don't think it would bother Liverpool or Everton fans. I don't believe they have any real animosity towards him. I can't see him being bought out of his contract though, it's supposedly mega money,

They hate him! Remember the small club jibe. I don't think they are a small club myself, but I doubt Everton fans will forget that.

That said, he would do a great job there IMO. He loves the city, and the people in Liverpool - something that should help build a rapport with the fans if he was to get the job.

Journalists first question is literally going to be in relation to the small club jibe.

Personally doesn't bother me to much I'd think he'd be an excellent choice. But die hard Everton fans that actually live there and go weekly likely feel different.

Man City away be a big game for Leicester.

Win that there are title contenders even a draw might be ok.

I wonder when do Leicester as a club, with Rodgers have a sit down and change their season objectives. Are they going to change their objective from top 6 -> top 4 and now move to a title challenge? Do they want a trophy?

Leicester have a build up of big games at the end of December now, which is based around the double header of Man City & Liverpool games. But just before that is a very winnable game away to Everton in the League Cup. If they win that, they are more than likely playing a 2 leg semi final against either United, Villa or City. They will fancy their chances of beating 2 of those in a semi final and then it's a once off game to win a trophy.

Will they priorities a trophy this season?

    Sat 14th Dec - Norwich h
Wed 18th Dec - Everton a (League Cup 1/4 final)
    Sat 21th Dec - Man City a
    Thurs 26th Dec - Liverpool h
    Sat 28th Dec - West Ham a
    Wed 1st Jan - Newcastle a

Will Leicester put a full strength team out against Everton in the cup, and then again away to City in the league a few days later? What happens then when the play Liverpool a few days after that? They need to work out what they want.

It'd make sense for him and for Everton.

Except he'd be giving up his massive contract in China and I doubt Everton would pay him the same salary and a buyout clause.

We have no problem throwing our money at absolute sh1te so who knows. Rafa probably doesn't fit the criteria though.

Really surprised at this now that be fair, it's not the way I thought it would go at all...... Wonder who leaked it? Well deserved by Messi eitherway he carried a misfiring team yet again.

Must be the first time Ronaldo isn't in the top 3 in a decade ?

Yeah end of an era I'd say,

he is 34 now will still play at the top for another few years but won't be anywhere near the top 5 in the world again.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,746 ✭✭✭BullBlackNova

2010 was the last time Ronaldo didn't make the top 10. It was Messi, Xavi and Iniesta that year.

Wouldn't discount him - a strong showing at Euro 2020 for Portugal would see him in there almost by default, I'd say, but there's also the chance that he just continues to score goals.

No real arguments from me. Even if people want to suggest Van Dijk should be top, having several players from one club could have split the vote.

Salah probably shouldn't be top 3 for this calendar year - Mané should be ahead of him really.

Surely City deserved some representation, too? Sterling in the top ten wouldn't have been a shock to me.

We have been spoilt by getting Ronaldo and Messi in the one era. Both quite comfortably the best players the last 10 years and even in seasons where they didn’t match their best feats they were levels ahead of the rest.

I think they are taken for granted. I remember Raul’s goalscoring for Madrid was considered world class and he was getting probably less then 50% of the goals messi and Ronaldo were getting. It is so hard to rememeber what it was like before these guys, I’d say it will only be when they are gone that their records will be truly appreciated. Luka modric winning it was a joke, a popular one but a joke. Whatever about going forward Nobody should be debating the merit if either of these two lads winning it over the last 12 years.

Took them on his back and was unlucky not to win a Treble with Barca.

Ronaldo unlucky again I'd say. Third country he's win a league title in, was that leagues outstanding player. Got Portugal over the line in the nation's league.

If be disappointed for de lift, easily the best defender on show this year, and v transitioned well into Italian football.

Van dijk probably deserved second but personally I'd have those three ahead of him.

He's good but it was more for his age that he got the plaudits. No chance any defender out performed VVD.
