Are the majority of Irish stupid and greedy?

Not dumb but there's certainly a level of ignorance. There's so many people that think anyone from Lithuania/Latvia is just "Russian". Compounding that, if you pull them up on it they'll say "ah ya know what I mean" or "it's all the same". By the same token, anyone from Slovakia is just "Eastern European" and anyone from the Balkans is just "Bosnian".

They'd be the first to cry their eyes out if someone called them English or thought they were from the UK.

We also expect foreigners to speak English to us here at home and when we go abroad. Heaven forbid you learn and try to use a few phrases in Spanish or French. That's all without knowing our own language.

It started in the late 1990’s, the days when we left ourselves behind and became obsessed with the next euro and one-upping the neighbours. The majority of people have been vermin since then, and even a good recession didn’t even sort it out as the greed was ingrained.

    Greedy? Yes, absolutely.
    Dumb? No.

    Genuine question
I notice through my trawling of news sites and their respective pages on the social media etc.. That there doesn't seem to be too many braincells in comments

If it's a genuine question then you need to think more for yourself.

Social media and comments sections are going to bring out opinionated people as opposed to educated people.

If you go around looking for stupid and greedy people you'll encounter them one way or the other.

I venture around a city now and again, and I just do whats needed to be done.
I don't look many of them in the eye, or at what they're wearing etc

I was in Galway there today and I went down the Christmas market it was really nice, there was a lot of movement of people, and I can honestly say I didn't get a glance at any of their faces, what they're wearing or how they present themselves.
I just totally zone out from it all, might take the odd glance at an attractive looking woman, if we nearly walk into each other or something.

But not looking people in the eye for a day or few hours browsing around a city can be absolutely empowering, bring a book sit outside a cafe and read it....

I don't notice the thick middle classes any more, they're non existent in my eyes.
They're just filling in the hole's in society, I prefer good honest working class people or old money type's because they're very much the same happy with their lot...

As for the middle classes well....

I’m an Irishman living in Germany, so can give a fairly objective perspective on this. There’s some wonderful people in Ireland, however it’s true to say that a large percentage of the people are greedy, stupid, and petty. They are also spectacularly vulgar, and have very little class or culture.

I always have to chuckle when you hear an Irishman (or woman) complain about the calibre of politician in the country. One has to wonder why the wonderful, intelligent, and dignified people of Ireland vote for such idiots. The reality however is that those politicians are just a perfect example of the people they represent – in fact I’d go so far as to say that politicians tend to be cleverer, more dignified, hard-working, and honest than the average Paddy who complains endlessly about them.

Finally, most of the Irish are terrible with money. They buy horrible low-end cars, clothes that don’t suit their potato-shaped bodies, and go on depressing holidays to Costa Del Lager. It’s a pity they wouldn’t spend more money on dental work. Money doesn't suit them.

I work with the public every day and I genuinely have to ask myself how the **** some people manage to dress themselves in the morning. The dumbest questions you’re asked.
Don’t know how some people manage to do tasks like booking flights and having the wherewithall to get to an airport and through security. Things that require a bit of organisation and thought. In general a lot of people want others to do everything for them and don’t want to think for themselves. No plan B whatsoever.

    Genuine question

Read an article about the Luas the other day and someone was legitimately moaning there wasn't one in their area even though it was a rural area with cheap rent and not much facility wise.

Read an article about the Garda and someone mentioned the Garda were scum because they arrested said poster in public before and embarrassed them.

Another person stating that the 2 new 24 hr bus routes is an attack on the Taxi drivers of Ireland by the people of Ireland and the routes should be scrapped cause now taxis might have to work harder.

And of course politics. Anything... literally anything gets announced and instantly barrages of what about the homeless and FF FG LABOUR (people don't seem to be aware Labour aint in gov anymore) not fit for purpose.

So really what I am saying is there seems to be a few pre meditated responses to the big.issues in Ireland and I notice that's all people can ever say.
Why do they not have constructive criticism and why is everything me me me?

Housing- the Governemnt should build social houses. Gov builds the houses . The houses aren't free enough or i don't like the noise of construction so don't build here. It's too high. Yada yada

I'm legit wondering do people see the same online or am I alone ? And yes I believe the comments made by some people to be stupid hence the title.
Also are we stagnating progress by always listening to and sometimes acquiescing to their demands?

What's your solution for the homeless you see?

    FYP.

Are you trying to disagree with him that the Irish are NOT stupid and petty...? Because as it stands, you're making the man's argument for him.

Can't, Irish dentists are a perfect example of Irish greed.

I think Irish people are very soft and want everything handed to them. If that nasty leo cut all taxes and spent billions and billions on houses, health and education we'd be a much better country seems to be the popular opinion!!

It has long been understood by more knowledgeable posters.

Joke or serious? What makes you think it happened in the 90s? What make you think it wasn't always so?

Can't, Irish dentists are a perfect example of Irish greed.

In for a check up and you leave with four appointments for “root canals” and then two “wisdom” teeth will have to come out as well.

There are greedy people wherever you go.
Are Irish people stupid .. I would have to say yes.
The Irish are incapable of getting outraged about anything, we get little or nothing for our taxes, crap services, crap everything and just put up with it.

    The majority are below average...

So the larger this majority is by volume and below averageness, the more above average the above average people are. Where would one meet these selfless intellectuals?

I fly frequently. Most humanoids do not have the mental capacity to remove liquids from their bags. Or if they do, don’t realise 100ml is the max capacity per container.

Why Is there no IQ test for those in emergency exit rows? One of the simple minded idiots I spoke of above may be at an emergency exit.
