I work with the public every day and I genuinely have to ask myself how the **** some people manage to dress themselves in the morning. The dumbest questions you’re asked.
Don’t know how some people manage to do tasks like booking flights and having the wherewithall to get to an airport and through security. Things that require a bit of organisation and thought. In general a lot of people want others to do everything for them and don’t want to think for themselves. No plan B whatsoever.

I was going to post something very similar.

Working in a job dealing with the public will reveal to you how stupid and helpless most people are. People go on about the "nanny state" but in reality we live in a "mammy/daddy state" where most people need their hand held by a responsible grown-up to complete even the most basic of tasks.

I've had it with people. I love to get home from work and just shut myself away from the world and i do my best to only have to interact with people on my own terms outside of work.

I'll probably become a virtual recluse once i retire and i'll be 100% delighted with it.

Probably seems amplified because of social media though.

It's just social media. Social media can come across as me me me because it's an unnatural form of communication. I mean, we actually pose and take pictures of ourselfs now!! That was unheard of years ago. It would have been thought of as vain. People are just trying to communicate in an unnatural environment where announcements about what you ate today or what your opinion is on the latest news topic seem a little bit more important because they're in writing.

Social media is not social. It's like people thinking out loud. Stuff they would filter in real life.

People are stupid. The trick is the exploit that to your advantage.

Correct. The " I see the good in everyone" brigade make it so easy they have taken the fun out of it

Agreed, with the culture of "Influncers" in this country its highlighted,
giving every dope with a smartphone a platform.

Look at that drink driving fool from Fermoy, shes not even sorry.

Consequently, look at that drink driving championing Healy Rae fool- the odds are really stacked against us.

Just reading about singer Ronan tynans fall from grace. He’s acting like it was harmless slip of the tongue stateside but to me it read as a typical ignorant middle class Ireland situation.

    No they are not.

However all culchies are inherently stupid and greedy. They also consider themselves more Irish than the rest of the country, so the argument will continue.

No, but stupid people make more noise.

In my experience, the squeaky wheel, gets the oil, so perhaps not so stupid.

Deal with the public as part of my job, there are a lot of stupid people out there and it's one of the reasons I'm cynical about democracy in general. Idiots getting to vote other idiots into power. But as a wise man once said, its the worst form of government apart from all the rest.

General threads like this could be applied to any nation or people, a lot of folk on Boards seem to think only the Irish are afflicted by greed, pettiness, ugliness, stubbornness, stupidity ..........

Of course there are stupid and greedy Irish people. Irish people are humans and many humans are stupid and greedy.

I think what Irish are, are the most begrudging people on the planet. See that thread on Andrea Corr the other day.

I'm the first to complain about self loathing bollox but it is more prevalent in this country - and other Anglophone countries too though. It's not just an Irish thing.

I mean Germanic societies seem far more about everyone recognising that they live in a society and have to pull together.

I find selective memory in people from all over a bigger problem.

There are levels to this game we call life.

Not everyone is made the same. The majority of the population are just a bit dim but are probably more happier because of it, i.e. their ceiling of expectation is lower.

Have a walk through a shopping centre to see the complete lack of self awareness most people have in it's most basic form. People stopping suddenly to use their phone, sauntering out of shops without a cursory glance to check for incoming walkers, labouring along 3 abreast stopping people behind from getting by etc...

The same can be seen on the roads however it's much easier to deal with since the repercussions are much greater.

No but a lot of them seem to have a huge problem with self-loathing and running down their own country.
