NordVPN wouldn’t work for me either. Using ExpressVPN

I can get NordVPN to work for BBC iPlayer but it's a bit of a pain in the arse. You have to connect through different UK servers until it works. I notice that if the stream stops and you refresh the page, you then have to choose another server to get it to work again. Also I use a new private window in firefox every time.

Need something (relatively) cheap to boost WiFi around the house.

    Anyone recommend anything?

I bought the linksys mesh which is very good....its just over 100 quid now

The BT kit is also on special, you need to buy via Amazon warehouse and you et discount off at counter

    The Linksys one is this
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Linksys-WHW0103-Velop-Dual-Band-Mesh-Wi-Fi-Extender-Whole-Home/dp/B07CZ3YB51/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=mesh+wifi&qid=1574415688&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&sr=8-8

But I might sell mine and step up to BT with faster speeds
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/BT-seamless-connection-everywhere-complete/dp/B01NBMMVG7/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=mesh+wifi&qid=1574416074&sr=8-6

    Cheers dude.

Do these just piggyback on the current network, or do I have to setup a whole new (better) network and move everything across?

No I just shut off wifi on my existing router. Pulled out all my TP-Link adapters. Plug the mesh direct into router

Then set up with same wifi name and password....boom everything was up and running......didnt have to touch anything.....

    Brilliant, thanks.

And I'm assuming the homeplug(s) I've cabled to the router are unaffected 'cause it's only the wifi being turned off?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,955 ✭✭✭✭Shefwedfan

FYI I spent weeks researching, have a thread open on forum in here. The linksys seems to be recommended by a lot of people and to be honest it is perfect since I installed. Really gave a boost around the house.

The best is tri-band but crazy money. The Netgear stuff is expensive and Linksys triband as well.

Unless you have loads of heavy gamers I dont expect you would need tri-band. But if you have the money floating around then get it

So I have a router with 4 ports I think, they are all connected to devices. Then I now have the linksys mesh as the wifi around the house.

I used to have the TP-Link adapter which are wifi hot spots as well but they drove me mad as you would drop calls when walking around as it moved from one network to another....

With the mesh now I dont have any drops.....also the connection speeds to Firesticks etc have improved hugely, way better coverage

    It does, I have one

They won't post it to Ireland, but once you get it here it works great. You don't need a VPN. You just need setup your Amazon home as your PW/PM address in the UK. If that doesn't work, a quick chat and they'll get it fixed by pushing a button on their end. I have Amazon Prime and we use Amazon Video all the time. For the other apps you will need VPN but not for Amazon Video. Also, it's easy to install Kodi and other apps on them making it the cheapest way to get/upgrade a smart tv.

Looking for 3 echo dots with clock. Will only let me get one. Any ideas?
    Apart from opening new accounts!

I never realised the restriction on those devices. Even the Firesticks are maximum of 2.

The problem with setting up new accounts to try and get more, will you be able to register them to the same account when you have 3?

As ablelocks, who you quoted, said - not all warehouse items are included.
there's a link on the front page somewhere that brings you to the included items section.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro with an Echo Show five reduced from 308 to 149 pouds.
    Going to get it now

You need to use parcel motel

Sorry for the newbie question but I'm new to PM, just registered there.

When ordering I take it that I give the UK PM address given to me. Do I need to do anything else or do they know to send it to my preferred location then?

You need to make sure your PMID is included after your name in the address you give to Amazon.
    So for example...
    John Muprhy
    PM123456
    Parcel Motel
    1A McKinney Road
    Newtownabbey
    Co. Antrim.

Got them before and returned them. Just weren't right to my eyes.

Does it happen to anyone else where they click on an item and proceed to checkout and the price has then changed?

For example, I want to buy a copy of Assassins Creed and it is advertised as £15.99. When i select it and go to checkout it is now £16.38. Postage not included, it hasn't been converted to Euro, just 39c added on for no reason it seems.

Not worried about the 39c but its happened to me before so just curious as to why or if anyone else has had similar issues.

It's adjusting for Irish VAT, UK is 20% we're 23%

Probably down to VAT. The UK and Ireland have different VAT rates.

That's Amazon adjusting for Irish VAT (which is a higher rate than UK)

UK VAT is 20% Irish VAT is 23% which was increased as per agreement with the IMF during the bailout.

If it is a higher priced item it sometimes works out cheaper to get it posted to your PM address and pay the delivery of €3.50 or whatever it is from that location than to pay the extra 3% to have the item posted directly to your home address.

This phone seems like a great deal. Will it work with an Irish sim? It's unlocked so can't see why it wouldn't? But the "UK" version is off-putting.
