Insulated panels for ceilings

    I need to do something about the upstairs ceilings in an old stone farmhouse.

    The roof is like this (plan view) https://imgur.com/a/Mbgppgu

    The grey part is the attic which is covered with ample insulation.
    The yellow part is the sloped area rown to the gutters. Without removing the roof and a huge outlay, I don't think I can do anything about that.

    But I see there are internal insulated ceiling panels. How good are they? Would you recommend them and if so, which particular ones? Is it an easy job to install?

    I am very interested in this problem as I have a few friends with a similar problem, some experienced lads suggested removing a few rows of slates and then insert insulation from above would not be as much as a cost as I thought but I am going to try to confirm myself.

    What is the current ceiling finish? Do you have any pictures?

    No pics as I'm away atm. It's a 100 year old farmhouse and AFAIK nothing has been done to it in at least the last 50+. The roof itself was replaced in the 80s but ceilings were not.

    Probably some kind of plasterboard? Painted, and in need of repainting.
