    The publicity during the summer for the newest two said January 2020 for Camden Street. I don't think there's been any update since.

    The sooner the better. With a bit of luck we might actually start seeing some price competition in pubs in Dublin, if we get a few more Wetherspoons.

    I doubt it. The offer is sufficiently different for the pubs and their suppliers to see it as not a competitor.

    I'd have thought whetherspoons in abbey street would be packed all of the time but it didn't seem to be too bad last Saturday, to be fair I was there quite early though.

    I think that the chilly atmosphere of many spoons is what would chase away the higher-end crowd, though I have to say I find the silver penny abbey street quite cozy for a Whetherspoons if you compare it, for example, to the ones in dun laoghaire or belfast.

    In the past I often went all the way to swords just for the whetherspoons there (old borough), I am happy that there is now one in walking distance from my home.

    Stop being pedantic about spelling to non native English speakers like myself. You probably don't have a word of your own language (Irish ) nor any other language for that matter while I'm fluent in 3 so hush.

    Not being pedantic. The correct spelling is in the title of the thread.
    I speak fluent English, which I consider to be my native language, therefore it is not really necessary to speak another language, I am also fluent in Gaelic and I can get by in Vlaams and Afrikaans.

    Aside from that, nobody asked you to correct anybody's spelling as it is completely outside the scope of the thread, and Gaelic is not a language. You have Irish (sometimes called Irish Gaelic) and Scottish Gaelic.

    In the Linen Weaver this morning. Had a cask ale from some Orkney brewery, fin3. Followed by a John Smiths which was atrocious gave it back and it turns out the wrong nozzle was on.
    Finished up with a Beamish, way too col, no taste off it.
    Service absolutely diabolical, total spend €7.65.

    Dunno if it's the Cork side of things, but most of their brews are rank, in particular the cask stuff. Always hesitant now. Maybe a Punk on draught or bottled/canned stuff is the only way here. That's just me, so can't make that a statement for someone to avoid. As I said earlier in the thread, they don't do proper cask.

    tend to agree. had Jaipur on cask a few weeks back. nothing like it should have been. maybe they keep it on too long / dont get thru it fast enough.

    Cork definitely has the weakest game as regards cask, and possibly in general. I've had perfect pints of Jaipur in Blanchardstown and Blackrock, one of them costing me all of €2.

    yea i've been less than impressed. not in there much but it doesn't do any favours promoting cask ale like that. twas 2.75 a pint and if it was in good condition its a class pint ( Jaipur )

    Seems to be the case so. Used to live in Dublin and the Blackrock outfit was perfectly fine iirc.

    The Cork outlet is very badly run. Never enough staff, food poor, beers in poor condition, always out of something.

    Only if on RTE currently I think. Some suburban pubs have Sky but it is not the norm chain-wide

    They've gone app only on the upstairs, bit weird sitting 6 feet from the bar and watching your drink sit on the counter and you can't take it......

    Been to the one in Abbey St twice.

    First for food, no alcoholic drink. Food was pretty bad. I'm never eating there again.

    Went back a week later for a pint while waiting for the bus. Dear god...

    Nope, never ever again. Don't care how cheap it is
