Following your logic no players other than Dubs would get a nomination let alone an All Star as all the rest lost games during the championship.
In fact Tyrone lost two yet got two awards.

He was but I had assumed he wasn’t getting one after two quiet finals. He was excellent throughout the Super 8’s and in the semi where he got a game changing goal.

Howard at half back is a bit puzzling. He definitely deserves to be in the team but no. 6 is an odd place to put him. I know we have these positional debates every year but I think this one is stretching it a bit.

I’d say it was Howard or Murphy in half forward line, Murphy played most of the year at midfield???? So movement happened to facilitate. As bad as Cavanagh last year.

Fennelly was immense for club and county this year, and has continued that fom with his club in recent matches. You couldn't compare what Mullen brings to what Fennelly does.

Colin Fennelly well deserved his All Star for work rate, taking the hits and not always getting frees he deserved, and making space for other forwards like Mullen. Free takers don't always contribute what the likes of a Fennelly does for 70 minutes.

Both Murphy and Howard really prove that named position is pretty meaningless for quite a number of key players.

Murphy was exceptional and deserved one, and scored a pile so obviously a forward berth. Howard - and Scully who I think is under-rated - have almost invented a new position. It might be termed sweeper but he survives on instinct and brilliant reading of the game. I saw him at his best in league where I was in lower Hogan and you could follow his movement, often crucial to breaking down opposition attacks and starting Dublin attacks without being much on the ball!

Is he a centre back? Hardly in the sense we know them, but was there one orthodox centre half this year who deserved it above Howard? You would have to say no.

To be honest, boyle should have gotten one at 6 also. In a parallel universe, had dublin came out flat in the second half against mayo and lost, boyle is probably a big shout for poty. Sticking howard in for him is simply a sell out. He deserved one also, but not at 6. The sunday game toty is a far superior team these days anyway. All stars have become a joke.

No Allstars again for Roscommon even tho they win their province. And this year they did it after beating the big 2 there.

Maybe he was nervous like O'Shea and that's his way of dealing with it!

Most people come across as wooden and rehearsed when facing a mike and having hours to worry about it.

Did u see the interview?? Even Joanne was a bit shocked and not sure how to handle it. Most gaa stars give bland no personality answers but his was just an overly arrogant answer to her question.

I imagine Cluxton sweated more during that interview than he has in any Dublin game.
Comes across as a very shy lad but a great ambassador for the game.
Being from Donegal Tyrone would not be on top of my Christmas card list, but I was very impressed with how he sought out Sean Cavanagh for a chat at the end of Cavanagh`s last game for Tyrone.
Delighted for him that he got POTY. Long overdue.

Playing the roll of a halfback though to be fair, just higher up the pitch. Also, Mchugh is named at wing back but he doesnt really play there.
But fair enough, give him one in the half forward berths if that suits you better, he was nailed on in either.
