Hamster torpor?

Last night I checked on my daughter’s hamster at 11:30 as food untouched and hadn’t seen him in 24 hrs

He was fast asleep but wouldn’t wake up so I got blanket and hot water bottle and for next 40 mins hamster eyes would open then drift back off, move his head slightly then back to sleep

Now he is out straight, eyes closed , isn’t cold or stiff but hasn’t changed position in over 7 hours

Front paws and limbs seem not stiff, back limbs maybe

When placed in hands he isn’t stiff

I’m sure he is dead , can’t see any breathing, whiskers twitching etc

What is next step?

Currently in cage in bedding and heating on

My fault, room was cold when I entered last night

Bring to vet or wait longer or pointless?

Bring him to a vet if you are unsure. He could have gone into hibernation or may have had a stroke. How old is the hamster?

15 months , couldn’t find a vet that had a tropical pet specialist as all on leave

Brought to vet and they 99% sure dead but what puzzles me is no rigor Mortis

But vet/nurse does think his mouth was very stiff and couldn’t detect a heart beat

So that’s that

Would have preferred to have got a tropical pet specialist as nurse was helpful but just had no experience of hamsters

Our first hamster had rigor Mortis and was like a cold stone
