I commute 50km round trip everyday, 250km a week and fill the tank once a week, costs around 22 euro to fill.
Based on the above figures would you say that's good? Economy wise?
Bike is a 1000DL VStrom 2008, serviced and all running perfectly.
    Cheers,

45mpg according to your figures which is fairly alright and roughly in line with the online stats. The only way to know for sure is to crunch the numbers based on exact fuel consumed vs exact mileage covered.

Similar figures to me. 300km a tank, 17l. So around 26 to fill up. 5.5l per 100km is ok.

    2010 Suzuki gn 125 100+ mpg, 90 @ WOT. I hear some of the new 125s do 140mpg. Had a gn250 that did 80mpg.

That's pretty good for a 1000cc bike. I commute a similar distance and my bike returns 7l /100km (CBF 1000). Used to have a V-Strom 650 which would return 5l/100 km. It was very economical but I prefer the CBF.
If economy was my main concern then I probably would get a Maxi scooter.

Yeah I was just more curious than anything else, just thinking that I spend 50% less than the weekly train ticket I used to get, hated that f%&king train, always late, always depending on it, always restricted by it.
I know by the time you add on the price of the bike, ins etc it increases but say over 5 years it works out to be better.
Love that big pig of a Strom :)

To be fair it doesn't just come down to cost, it's also the flexibility of not being tied to the train schedule.

For a litre twin used commuting 45 mpg is good. Etv1k gets similar or slightly better but only if easy on the loud handle.
The Dr which saw dyno time gets 55mpg and has 29l capacity but yer bum will want you stop long before you run out:)

Exactly, that's what I meant by the restrictions of it. Really enjoy the commute on the bike too, in January I've to work from home 2 days a week, which will be great but that big grunt of a thing will be looking at me with sad eyes as it'll not be getting out as much as it used to, then again even cheaper on petrol as it'll be just 150km a week or about 15 euro or less a week :)

Ye, I started working from home 2 days a week since July. Miss the commute some days, but then again, there's a lot to be said for rolling out of bed and into work.

Yeah I've heard a few work folk saying that :)

http://www.fuelly.com is a great site if you want to accurately follow your fuel use, and compare it to other owners with same model of bike etc.

I used to track my previous bike, a Fazer 600, there and it was above average efficient when restricted and dropped to average when restriction came off. I also tracked my current bike, F800GT, there for a while and the fuel usage was coming up around 4.2 liter per 100 km, which is again fairly average.

I commute 2/3 days a week, 70k each way, and it costs me about 20-22 euro a week ( about a tank and a quarter on f800)

Same as OP, switched from the train back to the bike, commute is 100km round trip / day, 320km / tank, €20 a fill or 63 mpg, I do like my ER6F and will look to get the new 2020.
What else gets you moving as fast as a BMW M2 from a standing start for a fraction of the cost.
Not dependent on the train a major factor
