Selling alcohol in a gaming arcade

    Hi,
    Can you sell alcohol in a gaming arcade here in Ireland.
    It’s basically a casino with slot machines and poker machines, but would love to have a small bar in it to sell alcohol.

    Section 9, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956 is going to make it pretty problematic to get a licence for a gaming arcade.

    It might not be impossible but it is certainly going to be expensive.

    Even if you solve your legal problems with the intoxicating liquor licence you may find yourself in difficulty with the revenue over the correct stamp duty if you are not completely in line with the Act and located in an adopting county. You are going nowhere as regards an intoxicating liquor licence without revenue approval.
