Did the Japanese player put the ball down and pick it back up there a couple of phases ago?
Yes. They've done it a few times.

So you are all calling that a red card. I'm not so sure and the beast isn't a player with a bad history of that sort of stuff either.

Landed on shoulder first for me anyway. It was marginal. But Yellow was probably right call.

Japan are utterly brilliant to watch

Forward pass seems to be the norm in close for Japan!

    I'm exhausted watching this.

Some thunderous tackles going in from SA. Have to say the movement and passing skill being demonstrated by the Japanese under that pressure is something else.

Japanese player quite clearly tackled in the air, Barnes 3 meters away, clear view and nothing, he drives me batshît crazy watching him referee.

Yeah it's brilliant to see, isn't it :)

Eir commentators just mentioned it must be borderline legal at this stage.

Japan playing wild again and good to watch, but they're not scoring even with man advantage.

Yeah, looked like he landed on his shoulder first for me too.

Some of them are definitely illegal :)

They are literally closing the door on the chasers

Ken Watanabe in the crowd, he's a great actor.

:) I'd assumed between glancing between boards and the telly, I'd missed the player go down with the ball and another player driving over and then picking it up, cos I was fairly sure I wasnt looking at him going down, placing the ball, getting up, picking it up and running off. :D

The Bok pack is definitely not going to appreciate this pace.

Good game. Japan have great handling skills. Still fancy SA but think they will have to work for it.

SA didnt hook and trying to walk over the scrum with 7 men. Too cocky

Love the crowd celebrating the scrum penalties. Did the same against Scotland. They get it.

    Back to 15 now

    Couldn't hook

Not hooking is a penalty against you

You may have a point about the Top 14 but France only beat the Pumas and Tonga by 2 points in the pool stage and could easily have lost to both of them.
Much improvement is needed between now and the 2023 WC.
Oh yes we are still far from complete performances but there is definite improvement.
The Argentina game, we'd have lost it if it were a 6N game. The Tonga scoreline is deceptive, we were 9 pts ahead before they scored a last min consolation try. Of course it wasn't a great performance but the second game in 4 days and in anticipation with the England game, I can understand some "management".

You also have to take into consideration how down we were and how below zero was our collective confidence after 8 years of constant defeats. These first games, despite all of the imperfections they contained, gave us confidence. 3 wins in a row, I believe the last time we experienced it was 8 years ago! Which means our group of players never knew the taste of it. Our perf' today showed that with all the things no-Top14-involvement allow and some confidence boost, we can compete at top international level. We need to build on that and really analyse the how and the why!

The amount if stuff being missed by the referee is unbelievable. Japanese hand on the ground before he blew it up for that penalty for Japan.
It's not one sided bad refereeing, just awful refereeing.

SA better start adding scores here quick or I could see them being over run in the second half. They're blowing hard already. Japanese fitness is next level.

This bok team will be easily dispatched by England or New Zealand

At least 2 forward passes there.

Looked a forward pass there on the wing.

EDIT, one on either side for Japan. :)
