Can anyone help with ID please, just curious what type of moth or butterfly we might expect to see in a bit.

I seem to be unable to post/attach pics , Caterpillars are lime green/neon green, with a kind of horn at the end.

Not sure what they are eating but they are hanging around a contorted willow. (Have a number of other plants in pots in the same area)

Would be better if we could see a photo. To do so, you first have to upload to a photosharing site, Flickr for instance, and then post a link to the photo on here. I'm sure somebody will be along who will be better able to explain it.....

Neither work for me. Use the paperclip/attachment option to link from a saved pictures, perhaps.

I'm guessing from your description that it's the caterpillar of the pale tussock moth. There seem to be a good few of them about at the moment. A stunning looking little creature :)

It looks like the caterpillar of a Poplar Hawk Moth, feeds on Poplar and Willow.....

Colouring is a bit dull but it looks like a Polar Hawk Moth,

Thanks to everyone for contributing.... It does look like the poplar hawk moth caterpillar, there's 4 of them now in the same area.
