    Overly sensitive.

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be” - A. Dumbledore

“It is not blood that makes you Irish but a willingness to be part of the Irish nation” - Thomas Davis

    Overly sensitive.

That’s unfair, untrue and just plain mean. :(
Why would you say such a hurtful thing Emmet? I’m telling my mammy reporting this post. :(:(:(:(

    Overly sensitive.

You are a HSP. This might help.

    Childish Philistines on sugar-highs.
But strangely you're an exception is it?

I strongly suspect you wouldn't make such statements about other nationalities.

The average Irish person will be able to relate to most of these.

You have a great need for other people to like and admire you.
You have a tendency to be critical of yourself.
You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage.
While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them.
Your sexual adjustment has presented problems for you.
Disciplined and self-controlled outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure inside.
At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing.
You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations.
You pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept others' statements without satisfactory proof.
You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others.
At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, reserved.
Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic.
Security is one of your major goals in life.

I'm going to frame the OP question in the form of a persona.

This persona has likely nurtured a filial devotion to sport like Rugby, gaa, soccer - whether male or female. They encourage their kids in this sport acitivity. This has replaced religion like catholicism.

As varied as any group of people . No 1 trait covers everyone or even people's perception of being Irish.

Sheeple, Extremely apathetic and easily influenced. Afraid to stand up for oneself, which is rolled out as being neutral.
Big begrudgers and generally love a bit of misery.

A compliant people who are by and large easily cowed into submission with an almost childlike longing for praise and plaudits from other nationalities

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,129 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

A disrespect for authority and a willingness to bend or ignore rules to suit ourselves.

Utterly hopeless at medium or long term planning in housing, transport etc.

Does that mean you have nowhere to live and no car?

    What do you think?

I think you are a typical Irish person who can plan for their accommodation and transport needs, short, medium and long term. I am the same.

What anyone says about you, behind your back, is none of your “business” and you should be thankful they have the manners not to say it to your face.
