Collinswood, Whitehall (Beaumont) - Concerns!

Hi all,

Looking at a property in Collinswood. We've a few concerns -

1. Build Quality - have heard that the walls connecting the houses are thin - can hear the neighbours. Can someone confirm this or any recommended way to check the quality of the walls?

2. Thornwood Social Housing - Can anti-social behaviour be a problem or is already a problem in this area? Any thoughts?

Any help is much appreciated.

Antisocial behaviour is not a problem as far as I’m aware. Beautiful estate. Great location.
Houses are made of paper. Overpriced imo

Walls are paper thin, an awful lot of houses are rented out and in house shares , if you buy beside 7 lads in their twenties from Mayo sharing a 3 bed good luck, cars park all over the paths , kitchens are tiny.

Sisters lived there since the place was built.i dont think they have had any issues with noise.and as far as the anti social behaviour issue shes literally never had any issues its a quiet estate far as im aware.

I can't speak for the quality of houses but as far as anti-social behaviour goes, its practically zero in or around Collinswood, its one of the nicest and safest estates in the area, people in the social housing estate don't seem to be causing any issues either.

Thanks a lot for all the replies. Glad to know about the safety aspect but the build quality is still a concern. Paying almost half a mil for a poor quality house doesn't seem justified. Will wait for someone living in the area to confirm, otherwise will not consider the property. Thanks again

My advice is to look at Ray Palmers post. The houses he has listed are much better and a nicer area in my opinion, well established and quiet. I grew up around here. I spent a lot of time in houses in Collinswood and the build quality really is awful. Like above a lot of house shares and students live in collinswood because of access to colleges.

Thanks for this, appreciate the advice here. It makes sense to go for a better build quality for sure. I would also be looking for more efficient houses with at least "D" energy rating - which rules out of many of the houses in the region. Appreciate all the advice

With the difference in price and size it is affordable to buy a lower BER and spend the money on upgrading.
BER is also a terribly inaccurate measurement so using it to gauge running costs is not something I would use.
Collinswood properties certainly aren't super efficient but they are small and expensive. You would be talking about a decade or longer before the cost of heating would be noticable worth while.
