A6 blower intermittent

Hi folks, i've got a 2011 A6 avant, the internal fans work intermittently. Some times on start up they work, however if i change from what it was at to another setting it can just cut out. Then sometimes i could be 20 mins in the car and they may or may not come on. When they do come on AC/Heating works fine. Any ideas?

Could be the brushes on the blower motor. Happened me one Passat, much older one though. Not sure how the motor On the newer ones is set up or if they are serviceable. There should should also be a resistor on it which can fail. Might be worth getting it scanned if someone has a vag system. Do a search for brushes and see if it's a common issue.
