    Hi

Just had my car serviced and NCT due shortly. mechanic told me that my brake discs will need replacing before NCT due to them being rusty. He said they will not pass.

If I don’t replace them and put the car through to see will they pass and then they fail will I then be charged for a retest or is this issue a visual, hence I wont have to pay for retest.

    Thanks

If it has to go through the test lane again then it's charged as a full retest. I'd imagine anything brake related would go through the brake testing stage again and hence full retest charge.

Where is the rust? It's pretty normal for brake discs to rust to some extent. The braking surface should be completely clean after a short drive though, if they're not then there may be some other problems.
