You can still claim the free DLC without the base game (on Uplay at least) if you plan on getting the game in the future.

I did that and it says the DLC was added to my library but when I look at in the Uplay store it doesn't say I own it and theres a price beside it so I dunno!

Apparently it won't work if you bought the game on Steam. Ridiculous!

It's free on steam as well, isn't it?

Ah right. Thought it was only on Uplay.

Reading the description of Celeste makes me think randomly generated level games (rogue-likes) have become so common that games now specify things like "Brave hundreds of hand-crafted challenges"

Nah Celeste is a must play, as simple as the graphics are, the level design, music and gameplay are fantastic. Its really deserving of all its praise tbh

Its also not roguelike, you infinitely respawn on the same screen/section (pretty much) that you die on, and you will die......A LOT :)

I've never used Epic Store before. I assume you need to sign up to avail of the freebies?

Yes, you'll need an account with Epic, and you'll also need 2FA enabled due to the constant brute force attacks on Epic accounts.

Wow, these giveaways must be costing Epic millions of dollars - I guess they have to spend the Fortnite profits on something.

Metro: 2033 Redux and Everything are next week's freebies.

I wonder how many of the "I'd never use Epic...blah blah blah" will now.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

They've been giving away lots of really good games every week for ages now - many of them things that I sorta fancied but never got around to getting for one reason or another. It's hard to argue with free :) It's also a very clever way of getting us all used to regularly opening their store-front in the same way I suspect many of us do with Steam. Origin or UPlay in comparison almost never get opened on my machine and as a result, there's an added negative impact of there always being a huge pile up updates that need to be downloaded and installed.

Apologies for the non-bargain, but just a general FYI, I've had a myriad of problems with the epic launcher correctly loading, clicking and claiming games etc

I found it much faster to just do it in browser (on multiple different browsers if that's your thing). Once you get to the "Install Laucher" screen you know you're finished claiming games.

If you need confirmation, go to payment history, and you can see "-0.00 Arkham Trilogy" etc.

One of these days I'll play one of these games, but for now I'm content to be an insane collector :D

It doesn't cost Epic anything, it's funded by the Chinese Communist party.

Possibly bordering conspiracy theory here but I find it interesting that the Chinese government produce Fortnite and then ban it in China. They made claims about it negatively affecting children's education and health but keep it going for the rest of the world to use.

And I wonder what their angle is with the Epic game store, is it just data collection? Why does China desperately want a game store so much that they are willing to lose big money on it?
