The 06 blue corolla looks great. I'd haggle the price over getting a 1 month warranty. The only obvious black mark on it is that it's the two hatch.

That’s a plus on a relatively well specced model in a good colour.

Yeah, but they were massive flops. The Puma, much like the Capri, was created by taking one of their bread and butter cars (the Fiesta) and putting it in a pretty frock. That was the idea behind the Capri back in the mid/late 60s, and I suppose you could argue the same idea resulted in the earlier Consul Capri, and it worked quite well.

Some dude in Brookside had one (the Probe) and that was the final nail in their coffin, like Pat Kenny and his bmw bike with the roof!
    Sad I know this.

The real PR disaster for the Probe was Gareth Cheeseman - Alan Partridge’s less likable cousin, who famously had one as a repmobile.

The sister is looking for something. Has to be smallish engined and reliable and local enough to sligo. What do ye think of this?

**** I just sold mine for 1100 with nct and tax even colour is the same.

But I'm in Wicklow -- but for 2000 I would deliver to Sligo ;-)

Ya I was thinking around the 1500 mark, so even at that it's expensive. Slim bangernomics pickings up here. Especially in smallish cars.

2k way too much for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,968 ✭✭✭✭bear1

    It was 2.3...
Even with the whole Saab history with it I would have thought that would be at least 500e less.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 972 ✭✭✭somebody_else

Plus it is on old tax system which make it even less favorable.

But it is very nice looking car.

2013 Kia Magentis Diesel with 2 years NCT and a nice spec. 2k would probably take it

    How about this for €995?

NCT until Jan 2020 but it says new, so if just tested it should go through again.

Great little car, the Grande Puntos, but the mileage on that one is way above what you'd want on it.

Thanks for the replies. Any opinions on something like this or a Subaru Justy?

Just letting you know that car changed hands only last week (3rd Sept) and also no mention of mileage which is odd on a small car unless it's very high

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-fox-2007/22911699

There's a nice clean looking low mileage VW Fox down the road in Carrick for €1250 also

Thanks, probably should have mentioned she's looking for a 4 or 5 door only as might have a child in a child seat an odd time.

As someone who only drives Automatic this is normal pricing, these guys think that they can over price their cars because there are fewer autos out there.

That's generally how supply/demand economics works.

I get that but some of the heaps that are put up especially as said above the higher tax rates etc belong in dreamer category.

They must be selling them eventually, because they don't stay for that long around...

Posted this in my own thread but figured it would get a quicker response here.

    Any thoughts?

I know it's cheap but with 320k kms on it and €1k tax bracket it it's cheap for a reason.

It could last forever, but I'd be taxing it in 3 month installments and wouldn't be getting too fond of it. If anything much more than a puncture or a bulb blew I'd be preparing to walk away.

It's in km from looking at the Speedo so it has 197k km.
I'm a bit disappointed that it's a 4 cylinder and I can't seem to find much online except to get the 3.0
Why would you be prepared to walk away if it has an issue or had an issue?

The 2.5s did suffer from head gasket failure quite often but that would have been in the older model legacy I couldn't tell ya whether it'd still be an issue in those ones.

They are very heavy on petrol too.

Seems the facelift ones are better when it comes to the head gasket but it's a pity Subaru decided a 2.5 should be a 4 cylinder.
Fuel wise people are reporting about 30mpg on average which is ok for me.
Bit skeptical the 2.5 will be dog slow.
