There doesn't seem to be an abundance of evil women in history

Dem oul female Nazi camp guards were just as evil as the men, with special mention to Maria Mandl:

"Perhaps the most evil of all the female guards was Maria Mandl, aka The Beast due to her actions. Mandl was responsible for over 500,000 deaths at Auschwitz and was a top-ranking official there. She had a Jew serve as her pet, having them perform tedious tasks until she got tired of them. Then, she had them executed. When it was time for the prisoners to line up, she waited for one to look at her, and then she had them executed.

Mandl’s favorites for execution were children. She enjoyed the selection process for executions so much that she created an orchestra that played when prisoners came to the camp on their way to be executed. She believed it helped the prisoners deal with what was about to happen to them while making her job easier. In 1945, Mandl was arrested by the US Army and then she was hung in 1948 for her appalling actions."

There's a great show called Deadly Women that details female killers. Most of the episodes are on Youtube. They did one last year on Jason Corbett and Molly Martens.

Typhoid Mary is worth reading up on. :)

Yeah but she was hardly evil...probably a bit dim. I don't think she understood nor wanted to understand what her circumstances were.

Rose West from the UK is up there as one of the worst serial killers of all time.

Gruesome stuff - even to her own kids.

I think Ilse Koch, Irma Grease, Myra Hindley, Rose West, Aileen Wournos and Lady Elizabeth Bathory to name but a few might disagree with you OP.

I watched that once years ago and once was enough - she should be hanged.

During the Vietnam war there was a notorious Viet Cong platoon leader named 'The Apache'. She was especially sadistic and would cut off the eyelids of POWs, pull out their fingernails and castrate them. Sometimes releasing them to crawl back to base and bleed to death. She led a platoon of snipers; that a female was in charge of an elite unit was surely a testament to her brutality and effectiveness.

After hunting her unsuccessfully for several weeks, US sniper Carlos Hathcock finally spotted her when she briefly stepped out of the undergrowth onto a trail to squat and take a pee. And duly put two rounds into her.

Anne Bonny and Mary Read were both notorious pirates and Bonny in particular was said to have been bloodthirsty

An evil cruel woman not just for what she did to Jason Corbett but for what she put his children through.

For a long time society couldn't accept that women are capable of brutality. We expect men to be violent, not women. There was an episode of deadly women from around the turn of the 19th century. A woman murdered a man and she was found not guilty by an all male jury despite overwhelming evidence. Even today a man is likely to get more jail time than a woman for the same crime.

Monster mum who murdered daughters after they 'got in way of sex life' jailed for life

Louise Porton killed three-year-old Lexi Draper and 17-month-old Scarlett Vaughan at their home in Rugby, Warwickshire, jurors at Birmingham Crown Court were told

On one occasion she even offered a photographer sex in exchange for money while Lexi was seriously ill in hospital and sent him topless snaps.

Following the death of Lexi, Porton had remained "particularly unemotional and detached”, according to the paramedics who attended the scene.

I would controversially say there are just as many female psychopaths as male ones. The only difference is that they haven't had as much access to power and are also mostly not physically strong enough to inflict cruelty on other adults. Children and other women is another story. Having seen firsthand the nasty relentless bullying that teenage girls are capable of they are no better in any way than boys.

Spoiler alert: this is one of the sickest things I've read about a mother killing her children, hence the spoiler in case people don't want to know.
A woman in Atlanta killed her one and two year old by putting them in the oven.

I've only ever known one person who was evil and that person was a woman.

    Maybe I was just unlucky

A few evil women come to mind immediately.

    Witch of Buchenwald, Ilse Koch
    Blood Countess, Elizabeth Bathory
    Bloody Mary Tudor
    Hyena of Auschwitz, Irma Grese
    Myra Hindley

I don’t know but was there a Queen during some period in history that seems to have been quite fond of a beheading or two?

I can remember reading something like that before but it completely escapes me now so I can’t google it!

In 2019 women have far greater licence to engage in cruelty, if they get called out on it by any male, they can conveniently play the mysogony card and most women along with an increasing number of men will side with them

There may be fewer but what there is is just as gruesome.
A lady called Ameila Dyer, said to have killed at least 300 infants in 19th century Britain, over 30 years.
Catherine de Medici was in some good part to blame for the wiping out of 30,000 Huguenots in the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre of August 1572.
Klara Mauerova tortured her own sons for a year.

I’d agree with this and suggest that it might also be the case that we are too quick to excuse violent or cruel behavior by girls and women as being the result of abuse or mental illness.

So we see the signs of psychopathy in women but either can’t or won’t recognize it for what it is.

Many people believe St Theresa of Calcutta was actually a sick sadist who caused huge amounts of suffering before death under the guise of piousness.

She was though. Apparently her philosophy was "offering it up" ie the more a person suffered before their death, the closer they would be to God in the after life, so people died in her hospitals without pain relief. It's the same line of thinking that allowed nuns to bully and abuse women in the laundries under the guise of doing God's work.

If by "many people" you mean notorious English/American drunk and neocon groupie Christopher Hitchens, then maybe. But his credibility isn't that high.

His main beef with Theresa, when you strip out all the hyperbole, was that he just hated religious zealots.

Sounds like Lizzie Borden, another contender.

    Lizzie Borden took an axe
And gave her father forty whacks
And when she saw what she had done
She gave her mother forty one.

Hes really not the only one, one of the more outspoken granted, but far from the only person
