While there is a definite last place choice, I have no idea yet who submitted it.

Judges were very close tonight on some of their rankings, wayyy off with others.

Be sure to find a nice comfortable bench while you're at it...something next to the cabinet perhaps :D

16th: Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye (Kygo Remix)

    Stu:
I like remixes, there will be an example of a better (IMO) one coming up later. However, I could not get into this and was left wanting. With the original, the hook is Marvin Gaye crooning 'Baaaaaayyyyyy-by' and his supreme vocal, but in the remix here it is chopped or swamped in reverb and very much takes a backseat to Casio sounds. 'No one puts baby in the corner' is my feeling here, and Kygo has very much done that with Marvin's vocal, too much for my listening. Marvin is a great shout for this round, but not this remix unfortunately IMO.

    Necro:
I love me some Marvin Gaye so you can't go too far wrong with some Sexual Healing. Not sure about this mix though, I think the original would have scored a LOT higher if I'm honest. I'm a bit meh on dance remixes for classic songs, I never understood the point I guess. And the more I hear this remix in particular the lower it sinks.

    15th: Pennyroyal Tea - Nirvana

    Stu:
I never really liked Pennyroyal Tea, least of all the Unplugged version. That acoustic sound of Kurt's on Unplugged doesn't agree with me. It's perfect for 'The Man Who Sold The World', but not a full gig of tunes…not for my listening. Not crazy about his vocal in this performance either. That coupled with me just never liking the song leaves Pennyroyal Tea near the bottom. Unfortunate, because Cobain is one of those artists this round was made for and I very much like Nirvana.

    Necro:
Let me caveat this by saying that I love Nirvana. Nevermind is one of my fave albums of all time. That being said I just didn't get into this like I expected to, and if I'm honest I was kinda glad it was over. Loved the unplugged sessions but this was one I would usually skip if I'm honest. So it pains me to do it, but I've gotta score this one relatively low despite loving the band.

Pains me so much that Nirvana are near the bottom this round :(

I love most of their stuff but find myself agreeing with Stu that Pennyroyal Tea just isn't very good, specifically the unplugged version :/

14th: Dang! - Mac Miller (featuring Anderson. Paak)

    Stu:
I like the music in this, almost a marriage between Air and Daft Punk. It's quite trippy and really rich in instrumentation. It's just almost too 'happy' for what I'm going for in this round, plus the lead vocal isn't really my thing. I want to be brought down and taken to a cold place in this round, but this tune isn't going to take me there.

    Necro:
This is a great funky tune which gives me happy vibes. Tempted to be a grumpy old man (psyche) and leave it at the bottom of the table...... pacman.gif A couple more listens though and I'm questioning it's positioning, I like the beat but the actual song itself is just not great.

13th: Only Yesterday - The Carpenters

    Stu:
Karen's voice could portray such a longing, even when singing about happier subjects. I've never been gone on Only Yesterday though, the verse is lovely but chorus loses me somewhere along the way. 'We've Only Just Begun' would have Top 5ed this round for me, but either way, Karen Carpenter was a great suggestion for this category.

    Necro:
I've never listened to the Carpenters so thanks for this. It wouldn't be my favorite of this category by any way shape or means though, but I definitely don't *hate* it in the way I just couldn't listen to some entries previously again (not necessarily this category), but I'm also not looking on YouTube for Carpenters music. And there are some really good songs coming up too.

    12th: Orion - Metallica

Stu: If you're a band known for having a quality lead singer and you choose to put an instrumental on your album, make it count. Metallica very much do this here. I find the chords in the first half of Orion quite unorthodox as far as Metallica chord structures go and I like it, but it I love the bass riff which comes in at the breakdown at 4:00. By then the song needed that change and it is a quality one. Not saying Metallica were any worse or better after his death, but they definitely lost something beyond just a bass player with the untimely demise of Cliff Burton. There is something about Orion though which is just a little too 'jammy'. I know it's overplayed by now, but the Burton co-written 'Master of Puppets' would have scored higher with me in this round. Not because it has a vocal, but because I feel it is a more complete song where Orion feels like something which was faded out once the guys ran out of ideas. Plus, it's Master of fúcking Puppets :pac:

    Necro:
Love me some Metallica. Should have gone to Slane. frown.png Yeah, drunk Necro wrote most of this. Another few listens and I'm not as sold on it, not gonna lie. Where are the lyrics? It's basically just musical ****. And while I'm not adverse to the odd guitar solo here and there, I like it supplemented with some god damn lyrics!!! It's a no from me for this one, sorry. Drunk Necro initially enjoyed this but sober Necro wonders what's the point.

    Watching the Ireland game alright

Also didn't have a huge amount to say that you guys didn't :D

Can;t understand why the original Marvin Gaye wasn't entered if going for that song, also strange choice for Nirvana but maybe its one of his favorites.

Its hilarious. I know what song I entered, yet I still read the spoilers with anxiety in case I somehow accidentally entered the wrong song.

Anseo. Not watching either of those snoozefests. Wondering if anyone picked what I’d have picked if I was to pick.

Evening all, forgot this was on so nice surprise when I logged in and seen it

    I'm here! *waves*

I actually quite like Pennyroyal Tea but do agree that the acoustic version doesn't really work as well as the original; Kurt sounds a lot more nasal in the acoustic one, and the music just doesn't flow as well without the "oomph" of the transition between verse and chorus. All subjective, of course.

I quite like that Mac Miller one though, not familiar with his music at all.

11th: Northern Sky - Nick Drake

Stu: Hmm, this might be the round which finally cracks the Nick Drake nut for me. I tried to get into his music when I was younger, but just couldn't do it. However, hearing this for the first time years I'm really liking it. It's putting me in mind of Van Morrison's Astral Weeks album. I tried to get into that other critically-acclaimed piece of music when I was younger, but just couldn't get it. In recent years though, I'm very much an Astral Weeks man. Could be a similar thing with Nick Drake, an acquired taste. I will certainly be listening to more of his material after this round.

    Necro:
It's all a bit low and meh for me unfortunately. And imagine my chagrin when I see it's been submitted twice. I just don't 'get' the song, so obviously I'm the one with the problem as two of you liked it so much to give it to me. Just another one of those where it's not you, it's me situations.

Nice choice Rikand, I didn't expect anyone else to be picking him.

Was a a tough choice deciding on what song to go for from him.
