    Sounds promising although visits from ministers to elsewhere usually involve cutting ribbons on projects actually completed. Waterford seems to be always on a promise.

    That said the tweet mentioned local projects which hopefully primarily means the north quays.
    If funding is not announced on this visit, hopefully it will finally clear the way for its announcement soon.

    We live in hope.

    Definitely positive he is coming down to meet the council. He would not publicise it if he was coming down to roll back on promises, he would just do it from a far. However, doubt there will be an announcement his Tweet mentions nothing but meetings. But we’ll see…

    Money on hands hanging. What do you expect? He is a Fine Gael Dublin minister. Can anyone ever remember a time when any Fine Gael minister since 2011 ever came to town with anything? Varadkar came here in June and proceeded to publicly lecture and criticise the four pathologists who had the temerity to mention that bodies were rotting on the UHW mortuary floor while a new mortuary had been on the HSE priority Capital Plan since 2014. He then recants, apologises and says it is a priority after a national outcry. Has anyone seen any building underway at Ardkeen?

    Not a fan of FG but yes, saw quite a big building built in Ardkeen in fairness.

    Patience. Paschal said the money will be here soon for everything and a lot more besides. We're probably a little bit too far out from an election to announce them just yet.
    North quays money, a new greenfield university, hospital wings with actual staff to run them and maybe a monorail to the airport and a boundary extension to just outside Thomastown are on the way.
    Not long to wait now!

    Reeling on the Years was on last night, think it was 2001 because Charlie McCreevey announced the SSIA scheme.

    The show also showed him ignoring the advice of the EU and other European finance ministers about the spending Ireland was doing at the time. They were pleading him to either stop spending, or stop reducing taxes, or ideally both.

    Unfortunately Charlie didn't listen. Cautionary tale for those begging for more spending.
