Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Injured - best way to resume DCM training?

    Hi all.

I'm a regular runner over the last few years and had been training for Dublin with about 30 to 40 mpw up until 3 weeks ago when I picked up an injury in my foot during the Race Series 10k. It was under the ball of my right foot.

It's taken 3wks but feels a good bit better now, not perfect, but I expect to be fine by the weekend and to get back to it by this time next week.

Obviously, my advanced plan for Dublin is out the window having missed what'll be 4wks training by then.

So what is a sensible way to start back slowly, and what kind of training should I aim for between now and Dublin - about 10wks?

    Thanks

Have you been to a physio to get advice?

(among other things) one possible explanation for the symptom you describe would be bone stress, which requires really short careful little jog-walk intervals when starting back.

If it's something muscular it might be possible to start with short 3-4 mile runs every second day for the first couple of weeks (first attempt just one mile). But it's difficult to know what to suggest without a diagnosis.

Do you have details on what the plan would have been without the injury?
Plus details on how things were going prior to the injury? ( was it all easy running? Tempos? Speed stuff? Long runs?)

That might help people get a better idea of how you could proceed
