how many here listen to 'The Neill Boylan Show' and do any of you think if he should have his own tv show [same style as his radio show]]would make great viewing.:eek:

The last thing that ego needs is his own tv show. He hates anyone who disagrees with him and he comes across condascending and rude.

that's a no then?:rolleyes: i just like the choice of topics he he has on the show and the frankness in which they are talked about, i also like the Nolan show great chat show never afraid to bring up any subject.

Tunes are decent, do PJ and Jim still have the morning a slot? Used enjoy them.

I’d imagine Boylan uses fake callers to stir up emotions. That or there are a lot of WUM’s with “unlimited calls to landlines” deals.

Yeah PJ and Jim are still on mornings. They’re not the worst. There’s a bit of obvious fake “banter” but harmless enough. They need to knock the “CSI investigations” on the head though, it’s a well flogged horse by now. New ideas needed!

Overall it’s not a bad station at all to have on in the background. The DJ’s are generally easy on the ear (Boylan aside) and they just get on with playing the music - in contrast to the “content creators” over on Today Fm. It’s all pretty well packaged too imo, slick jingles, decent enough playlist etc.

4 (or is it 5?) Hours of Damien Farrelly every day is too much though, they could do with breaking that up a bit.

Done quite well and has been on UK radio and TV....

Some topics are quite good which others would never bring up.

Hate the auld one callers though that are constantly on...
They need to try and get more on and maybe a few that aren't knocking on heaven's door....

It's on in the background at work, and listening to it day in day out you get to realise just how restricted and repetitive the playlist is. I took a bet that I'd buy lunch for my factory line if a U2 song wasn't played between 7am and 12pm. Still haven't had to put my hand in my pocket.

I've nothing against the chap, but he's a bit loud for mornings. There's too much chatter too, I think. Add Jim's fake high pitched laugh to the mix as well. Nothing against him either, as he is a good presenter, otherwise.

The news is often pre-recorded a few minutes before going out, as news and newsreading is shared amongst Classic Hits, Nova, Sunshine, Spirit Radio and East Coast FM. There only ever seems to be at most two newsreaders to provide the news across all five stations at any one time.

Could be the news didn't insert properly and there were several minutes of schedule missing as a result.

It's very telling how he doesn't seem to have capitalised on the FM104 Phoneshow's demise and attract any of it's regular callers, considering his is the only late night talk show in Dublin now.

Changes to the Classic Hits weekend schedule are coming at the end of October as Owen Larkin departs.

Meghann Scully will take over Owen’s Saturday lunch time slot, from 11am till 2pm, in addition to her Sunday night Guaranteed Irish show. The former SPIN Hits presenter joined Classic Hits earlier this year.

Owen has been part of the Classic Hits schedule for over six years, but will be leaving to take on a new full-time role at Downtown Radio in Belfast.

In an email to staff, Classic Hits PD Andy Matthews said he was sorry to announce Owen leaving, and that “Meghann will be a great asset to the Classic Hits Saturday schedule especially representing Classic Hits on OBs with which we are always busy with at this time on Saturday.”

Owen is now listed as hosting 1pm till 4pm weekdays on Bauer’s Downtown Radio.

I agree, he would make a fantastic TV show, but given the way the media are set up here and their lack of ambition to make serious programmes, i cant see it happening. The growth of internet tv and radio stations will eventually change this situation . Bye bye RTE etc

It's sexist to question such a thing.....

They want to put more females into all roles including having only women open days for recruitment....

Funny of it were male only days there would be war.... Suppose we will have to have gender fluid open days too.

In fact, Owen Larkin was part of the original schedule back in 2009, when 4FM (as it was originally called) had a lot more mixed programming. Owen used to present a program on Saturday nights where he played the original versions of songs, whose cover versions were more well-known. After about a year-and-a-half, there was a lot of changes to the station's schedule, including getting rid of a lot of specialist shows. Owen Larkin's show was one of them and he left the station. After two or three years, Owen Larkin returned to Classic Hits 4FM (as it was being called at that stage) for his weekend afternoon programs.

Owen was also on the original Century radio line up.

Was listening to classic hits this morning or at least i think that's what it was. That PJ and someone else was on. Some spelling quiz. Roaring laughing at their own jokes. Shouting at each other as if they were or listeners were deaf.
As if they were fourteen year olds.

If it was the regular presenter with PJ Gallagher, his name is Jim McCabe. He has been with the station a long time now and has plenty of radio presenting experience. Much of his radio career has involved hosting or co-hosting breakfast shows.
