That's where I fell out of that article. I don't get the impression that the author has much of a grasp of Star Trek.

Also I think that a good chunk of the reporting was just wrong. I know well that I watched "The High Ground" during the 90's. Sky even made a big thing about airing this episode back then. (They did it out of sequence and after the watershed if memory serves)

I'm also pretty sure Data's line saying that "Ireland was united in 2024 'cause of the 'RA....sir" was not omitted (at least not that time).

Wonder how much the instant news and knowing of things ahead of time, changes how we consume or enjoy things. Here in Star Trek as with Star Wars and Disney.

In another time we wouldnt have a clue that some other company bought the rights and were making new series. And definitely wouldn’t know what producers or writers were involved.

We’d just be happy we were getting more. Without the target of some evil producer or corporations to blame.

It’s odd.

It's oddly, passingly gratifying to know that for all its utopian ideals, Trek got one aspect of Irish peace wrong; it came from diplomacy and sane heads sitting down to discuss a non violent solution. Brexit may be doing its best to erode that diplomacy but if Irish unity happens I'd still reckon it'd be the ballot box.

Today I learned that Lucille Ball saved Star Trek not once, but twice. She owned the production company Desilu Productions which was then bought by CBS.

She approved the production and development of the first Star Trek pilot, even though her board of directors rejected it. After it got very negative reviews, she helped finance the second pilot with her own money!

That’s brilliant! thanks for that. She was a bit of a space cadet in her own way but that’s some serious show of faith on her part.

It's the effect of going from perfectly clear to multicolored with a tap that I'd love to see.

Loads and loads of spirits IRL you can do that with. Something to do with different alcohol content and qualities and ingredients. Leads it to float and blend

I’m intrigued and baffled nobody hasn’t tried it already

It was not a Kitbash do. It was a Galaxy class ship and a sister ship to the Enterprise-D. The only good thing was it only had a skeleton crew on it. Imagine if it had of had a full crew and all there family's on it when the Dominion ship rammed it that would have been 10 times worse.

My bad, I wrote USS Kitbash, but should have said USS Re-badge

Now I’m getting flashbacks of the Yamato exploding. Is it just me or does a Galaxy Class destruction just feel far more dramatic than the loss of other ships (ST III excluded)

Have been re-watching a few random Voyager episodes lately and gonna have a bit of a ramble on.....

Neelix is as annoying as I remember, maybe even more so now.....why they gave him any level of responsibility is beyond me. The 2 parter where the Kazon steal Voyager and strand the crew on a planet and they all split up into 4 teams....and he just assumes a team leader role alongside the most senior staff.....makes no sense.

Also, these "variable geometry" nacelles on Voyager......they just seemed to stick them in as a novelty.....they were either up or down.... no in between, different geometry for different situations or speeds....they should have just kept them up all the times, the ship looks better that way.

But he's a survival expert, just don't ask him to find water in a solar system.

The best worst Neelix moment is in that episode too. Neelix picks up a bone and gestures around with it waffling on to Hogan about all the useful things you can do with bones and then drops it back in the pile and tells Hogan to gather them up.

I once had the Revell Voyager model kit back in the 90's. When building it, you could dicide to fix the nacells in the up or down position (and then that would be permanent when you had glued it together.)

I think I opted for the "up" position as it did look a lot more like a regular Starfleet vessel in that configuration.

(Revell did a really nice job on their Voyager models. Much nicer than the AMT models I was used to)

Bit of sad news today as Aron Eisenberg, the actor who played Nog, has passed away at age 50.
