Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

John Creedon's Atlas of Ireland

    Anyone else watching John Creedon's Atlas of Ireland? I know we complain about RTE and their lack of decent summer programming but this is excellent.

    It follows the route of the old mapmakers travelling around the island back in the 19th century looking at the origin of all our townland place names, most of them being Gaelic in origin. It's very poignant to think that some places will forever be lost from history unless we record them now. Some lovely archive footage from a village in Connemara that has been decimated by emigration and folks moving away.

    Recommended to catch up on RTE Player if you missed it first time out.

    Yeah, I'm enjoying it. A very easy watch with some genuinely interesting snippets.

    Was Tandragee described as being in County Antrim? Am sure it`s in County Armagh. Great programme nonetheless.

    It's a great programme, very interesting and enjoyable. I love John Creedon. It's a pity RTE insist on repeating all his shows to death afterwards though.

    No sign of him visiting Sliabh Rua the birthplace of John O Donovan. A big omission in my opinion.

    New season started this evening on RTE1, love this programme.

    Luke O'Neill moonlighting again though.
