    Hi,

I'm looking to put a 8 x 10ft Metal shed in our back garden. It'll only house tools etc. so no heavy stuff going in there, hence I've decided on a paver base.

Just not sure if I should put the pavers on a 75mm compacted hardcore followed by a 25mm sand/cement dry mix or if the hardcore is overkill and just compact the ground and go with the sand/cement mix?

The final height either way will be slight above the ground around it.

A tonne bag of aggregate will give you 100mm depth for that area, so do that.

Topsoil is usually that depth anyway.

Gives you the option of pouring a floor in future.

That said, the work involved is only fractionally less than pouring a concrete base.
