Thought it might be an idea to put up a dedicated thread for what could become a very wet day especially across central counties.

Possible that we might see thunderstorms also with very heavy local showers.

No warnings in place as yet but the charts are showing some very high totals possibly leading to spot flooding especially after the heavy rain of the last couple of days.

As the LP system moves off to the NW tomorrow we get an active frontal passage over the country which could produce a lot of rain, possible warning levels.

Very little DLS but has LLS with a pronounced convergence zone especially across the center of the country, this could producing forcing along the front with thunderstorms a possibility.

Cooler fresher air mass to follow the passage of the front.

What the other models are predicting for Rainfall accumulations. Fairly common theme with highest totals across the center of the country.

Latest AROME 18Z Showing some of the highest totals up until late tomorrow night ( will probably rain on after that too for a time ).

MUCAPE would appear to peak there in the afternoon as well possibly bringing some thunderstorm activity. will see.

Convective weather showing a slight risk for Northern Leinster into central counties.

A vertically-stacked low will drift slowly northeastwards across Scotland during Saturday, the associated cold pool creating an environment with marginally steep mid-level lapse rates, and 600-900 J/kg CAPE in response to diurnal heating. Assuming sufficient cloud breaks occur, scattered heavy showers and a few isolated thunderstorms may develop by the afternoon and early evening hours.

Weak shear will result in "pulse type" convection, with slow storm motion bringing the risk of localised surface water flooding from prolonged downpours. This combined with fairly saturated profiles suggests the lightning potential is quite limited, and many areas within the SLGT will likely remain void of any lightning. A couple of funnel clouds will be possible as low-level vorticity gets stretched upwards by passing updrafts.

Cloud cover is likely to be fairly extensive across Ireland courtesy of several occluded fronts - however, 500-700 J/kg CAPE could develop by the afternoon hours. Low-level convergence along and to the north of the frontal boundary could allow some heavy bursts of showery rain to develop, with some sporadic lightning - although given saturated profiles and weak shear, the coverage of lightning is rather uncertain.

Torrential downpours last night. The noise was such it even woke me up . Looks like approx 39mm of rain fell in the 24 hours with the bulk of it over just three hours from midnight onwards.

Interesting
That is in line with the UKMO predictive sequence and met Éireann which has athenry in a relatively clear zone either side of very heavy shower trains

Yr.no has us down for non stop deluge

Quite modest here compared to other parts, 21.4mm for the last 3 days and 28mm for the week and it looks like we are out of the main area of heavier rains today probably getting about 10 to 15mm.

Windy with heavy mist and drizzle here near Tralee .

Some of the model's rainfall accumulation predictions for today.

Interesting that ECM has shifted it's heaviest rain more to an area around E Galway, Offaly , Weastmeath.

Radar only now showing some rain moving into N Donegal, but it's been absolutely hammering down since about 10am (and probably before!)

Heaviest of the rain only lasted just over an hour with just pointless dribbles since. Still, managed to grab 20mm + within that small timeframe.

Nowhere near the scale of what Galway & Athenry experienced the other morning, but still, not bad.

Haven't had much rain here in Glasnevin yet. There's only been 1.2mm recorded since yesterday. Although it looks like that blob over Galway/Roscommon could be headed here later. It's also a cool, breezy day at 16.9C. The day's high was 18.8C, the third day that failed to reach 20 this month and the first day that failed to reach 19.

Few spitty showers in Lucan during the 4 hours I was on the golf course. Nothing especially heavy though. Wind was up alright. YR NO way off the mark as far as the predicted rainfall is concerned, met to a lesser extent.

Wet evening in dingle after an ok day, very breezy and quick passing showers.
Got washed out of it up home in s cavan, probably the biggest rain since August 2008.
Bresser stations swowing almost 4 inches this week alone, mozt of it fell in the last 24 hours

Use the netweather radar, it has a feed from Belfast I think so gets Donegal, either way it shows rain in NW Donegal.

That blob of rain just seems to be trying to move southeast but keeps hanging around Meath Louth etc. Keep thinking it's coming towards North Dublin all day but has held off pretty much. M1 earlier was terrible.

Just finished in the last half hour in Roscommon.
Constant deluge from 2pm to 9pm.
Flooded fields and roads.
Estimate 50-60mm today.
Surely that's yellow/Amber warning territory??

Pretty much sums it up, had about an hour of dry weather around 11 or 12, but since then its been heavy rain, plenty of water lying on roads and in fields, we had a small basin outside and its between half and 3/4's full
