I’d a similar experience about 10 years ago, I was in a bar in Dublin airport, sat down, ordered a pint, got the pint and a man beside me said something in a very incoherent manner which he then repeated, I still didn’t understand but smiled and nodded, he said something else I smiled again, Shane then started pissing himself laughing so hard I thought he’d give himself a heart attack... the laugh was contagious though, he seemed like a seriously genial fella, I think we understood in the end maybe 70% of our encounter, talking about our love of Joe Strummer, music, pubs and the likes...I spoke to his missus too a few years later through work...a seriously nice lady as it goes... saw him recently being interviewed in a wheelchair and he ain’t a well man it seems, sad looking.
