Based on an idea by Ben Affleck who ex. produces with Matt Damon, Tom Fontana & Barry Levinson

Staring Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Amanda Clayton, Cathy Moriarty, Kevin Dunn and Jill Hennessy.

Set in Boston in the early 90s when the city was rife with violent criminals emboldened by local law enforcement agencies, in which corruption and racism was the norm, until it all suddenly changed. The drama is a fictional account of what was called the "Boston Miracle" and centers on an African-American District Attorney who comes in from Brooklyn advocating change and the unlikely alliance he forms with a corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran who is invested in maintaining the status quo. Together they take on a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown in a case that grows to encompass and eventually upend Boston's city-wide criminal justice system.

Decent pilot introducing the main characters and setting up the story arc.

Solid episode 2 keeping the story moving.

Seriously impressive cast Sarah Shahi joins it this week.

4 episodes in now and you really can feel Tom Fontana & Barry Levinson fingers all over it.

    7.5/10 for me

Kevin bacon is stealing the show

Carver from The Wire as the preacher-dunno about that one

    Good show alright,
Have watched 5 episodes so far ,
    looking forward finishing it shortly.

Bacon is a lot better in this than is he in those EE ads anyway.

    Same.

Affleck and Damon producing, it has Affleck's The Town feel about it, both being set in Charlestown, Boston.
Difficult to understand what they're saying and who they're referring to sometimes, and the story seems a much visited one, but the story itself is gaining good momentum; enough for it to be renewed for a second series.
    For sure though:

    It has everything thrown in

Its deja vu all over again anyway with most crime shows

Very hard to understand /hear the dialogue

Started watching this last night. I'm only one episode in. Looks like I picked the right weekend to catch up on it :). First episode was very good. Sets things up nicely going forward.

This looks likely to be on Sky Atlantic later this year

That was a great season of TV and nicely set up now for the second season.

Plenty of inner and outer conflict going on in a Boahsten microcosm to give solid entertainment, where we watch young and old idealism do battle within the bureacratic -and inevitably corrupt- fight against crime. It takes a while for it to get fully settled in, and for us to get invested, so the second series should improve on this, while hopefully providing some more good twists and turns. The leads were excellent, with stellar scumminess from Kevin Bacon.

Watched the first 2 episodes, it's good so far anyway.

Finished this in two days. It's trying to catch a bit of the Wire, pushing both sides.

I really enjoyed, despite it lacking in complexity.

Enjoying this so far. 6 or so episodes in, plenty of intrigue. Wouldn't say it's The Wire good or anything, but is gritty and has good characters. The Boston accents jar a bit on the ear, but that's OK, it is what it is I guess. Bacon looks like he's enjoying himself, hamming it up big time.

Be interesting to see how it finishes out, plenty of potential.

Is this worth it? Watched first one but found Bacon to be doing an awful lot of furniture chewing.

It's not going to win awards, but definitely worth sticking with. Bacon's character gets more depth (and scumminess) as it goes on, with some character development elsewhere. It's more than possible- with the set-up and characters- a second series could do better, so you could wait () before investing your time, because, after all, it could sink. I'd definitely watch a second series (the first couple of episode at least), though it wouldn't be my highest priority.

That looks great but I'll need a recap, I must be getting old but I can't remember any of season 1.

I couldn't remember anything at all (even if I had liked the show) but threw it on anyway.

It feels like a fresh storyline that touches on Season 1 but in all honesty it could be the pilot episode of the show.

Really enjoyed it, Bacon a bit more toned down this season. The usual OTT Baawstan stuff but I think that's part of the charm.

Another show with a great cast as well, John Doman is always quality and I've a real soft spot for Mark O'Brien from Republic of Doyle and Halt and Catch fire

Watched season 2 episode 1 and yep was trying to remember the first season as well but I do remember I liked it.

I’d definitely want Jackie taking the law into his own hands for me if my mrs was shot.

So, what happened the Ryan brother that went to prison?? Did I miss something because I didn't see anything mentioned until this week's episode??

Good end to the season now to see where they go with season 3 if it's renewed which it really should be.

still not sure what happened to the fella in prison, we saw a death certificate and thats it unless i missed something

Just finished Season 2, enjoyed it again.
Bacon hams it up royally, completely OTT at times, but saw some nuance this season compared to season 1,especially with Mrs Roarke and his daughter.

Most of the ends tied up I thought, don't know where the characters like Jackie and Ryan's wife can really go from here..... Maybe there is another arc in the story, perhaps as mooted above Frankie isn't dead at all!!

Anyway, I'd recommend it, stink of The Wire off it at times, not as good obviously but certainly worth investing some time in it.

Great news, but I wonder were they expecting it - they seemed to close off all open storylines and the end of Season 2?

Finished episode 4, and felt it had definite echoes of The Wire to it at this stage, which was a positive for me- blended nicely with the corruption angle; "stink of the Wire" though?

Season 2 is good drama; in a way, season 1 retrospectively seems almost like a pilot for this one, as a background for the more procedural style of the second. I like the more modern element these days of killing off main characters almost out of the blue, rather than making it as a climactic thing.

Haven't finished yet but I have to say the Irish wan from Belfast is
such a cliched cardboard cut out of a character.
. Maybe things change in the last couple of episodes but I can't see what she adds to the story.

Corbin Bernsen, Ernie Hudson, Joanne Kelly.

Got around to watching it earlier, looks like it'll be another good season.
