Living Alone / Fuel Allowance - Backdated

    I'm currently on Disability Allowance. I've been living alone for the past year, and only just heard about the Living Alone increase and the Fuel Allowance ... I've sent off the applications for both, does anyone know whether the payments will be backdated for the past year? Thanks!

    I dont know the answer to your question but i would doubt it would be backdated. Have you applied for the household benefits package as well?

    It is generally just backdated to the date of your application.

    Fuel allowance is never backdated if you didn’t apply for it as part of your DA application.
    Did you not indicate that you were living entirely alone in your DA application form and that you wanted to apply for fuel allowance ?

    I've been on it a few years, I've only been living alone since last summer.

    Oh right... well the living alone increase will probably be backdated (but don’t count on it) to last summer but the fuel allowance won’t.
    If you qualify for the fuel allowance then you’ll get the telephone allowance too.
    €2.50 per week !!!
