Why are Honda pushing the Civic diesel so hard?

I don't think I've seen an ad for just the Civic, it's always the Civic Diesel. It's just strange to see these days as all the manufacturers seem to be pulling away from diesel, but Honda are still pushing it hard.

Did they build loads of them and are trying to flog them off?

Hoping to gain sales from Toyota I'd imagine.

Honda are also ending sales of diesel cars soon so could be an attempt to clear stock.

It's to clear the stock, before it will become useless.

So much unknown about the fate of diesel and it's not favorite child anymore. Diesel even loses value more then petrol these days. It's not fashionable anymore.

In a way, it's a good time to buy yourself cheaper diesel, but only if you planing to drive to the ground.
