They are all the same.....just a different sport and name. Of course SI knew what JD was at, they just turned a blind eye to it.

The only reason SI made a move to question the FAI was because of the great work done by the newspapers and Sports Committee asking questions. They had to be seen to be doing something.

So Earley and Conway have now gone public to say they didnt know about the this......who bloody signed it off then???

Questions now must be asked:

1. What was the role of a board member within the FAI prior to this mess being made public??

2. What was the policy for signing contracts or amendments to contracts....any company I worked for had/have a policy(example below), anything less would be grossly negligent...
Up to €50,000 - Department leader
Up to €150,000 - 2 Department leaders or a director
Over €150,000 - Board member + a director

All seems yet again very convienient, either amateur stuff all together or excuses to save backsides. Either way neither should be anywhere near the new board.

I hate to say this but whatever about Conway, he's a clown. But John Earley, while being there for all the bad stuff will probably see the end of him too, is a really genuine chap with football best interests at heart. Done savage work with the sfai for schoolboys football. Would have been an asset in new board but I think he has shot himself in foot and gone wrong way about it.

Earley was a member of the FAI board, not the SFAI board in Abbotstown. His and every other members role was to ensure JD and the FAI management were doing their jobs correctly and that finances, books etc. were in order. They were signing things off....

If you read his statements you can see that he was only interested in his own interest and not the good of the FAI as a whole, JD rolling up to junior clubs with a few grand (government money) here and there was enough to buy him, doesnt say much for the man.

Dont be blended....he wasnt and isnt fit for the position of board member in an organisation of the size of the FAI. If he was he would have known and taken action against/regarding one of the following; the €100k loan, the €2million handcuffs deal, the expenses, the credit card, girlfriends travelling expenses, fans being frisked home and away, whatsapp groups being hacked, heavy handed security in the singing section of the Aviva.........but he was happy to keep stumm once the clubs got their handouts.

None of them are fit to be near a local flag day let alone the FAI.

I think one should ask why he was doing the good work....would he show us his full expenses list for his time on the board???

Was he having his own pockets lined??? Until the FAI become transparent and after what happened we have to assume these lads were getting something to turn a blind eye.

That's before any expenses or stipends are added in.

That would be at the real lower level of what could have been happening behind closed doors.

Patience people! The **** has yet to really hit the fan for some. It will be a surprise to most when all investigations are done and the shackles are fully off in due course. Nothing can be said or done currently that could prejuidice future proceedings!

If Delaney suspended by UEFA sounds like even they're tiptoeing away from the trainwreck of the FAI. Suddenly Conway's mutterings a few weeks ago about dire consequences seem a little more lame.

While I can appreciate the time it may take for due process to ensure that Delaney's removal from the post is legally sound, we are now 5 months down the line from the initial reports. It seems as if the FAI are almost insolvent and have not been keeping correct records for years. These alone would surely be enough to fire a person on gross misconduct grounds in almost any other organisation one would think especially when you take into account the lies that have been told about the organisations solvency as recently as the turn of the year.
Supposedly this guy cares about soccer yet has happily sucked at least 150k out of it for the past 5 months while doing absolutely nothing.

This is no longer about sacking JD soundly. Its about protecting the board members who were signing off all the sh1te he was getting away with. Conway and co are only there to protect themselves and their mates. JD will fall, its the others who want to be kept out of it thats important now.

I’ve used the term gardening leave because it’s the one that’s been bandied about.

I haven’t seen anywhere that he’s been suspended by the FAI. I wish it was the case.

It'll be interesting to see how all this will affect sponsorship renewals.

I did some googling around on the Three deal and it seems like it might be up sometime late next year. Its not clear if its til the end of 2020 or just as far as Euro 2020. I expect that this stuff will still be rumbling on well into next year (and JD getting paid the whole time too).

It'd be great if sponsors started to put a bit more pressure on the FAI to clean up their act.

These companies have no loyalties to the FAI or anyone else involved at any level in Irish football.

They get involved because it's good for their business.

Some will step away from the FAI, others will see it as a chance to renew their deal at a lower cost to themselves.

They certainly won't be putting pressure on the FAI on behalf of the fans.

Lads dont look too much or expect too much from out sponsors...

JACC Sports need the FAI as they would be their biggest sales partner. They also run the FAI online shop......owner is a personal friend of JD or at least he used to be happy to tell people he was.

3, Aviva etc. wont react unless they lose custom in huge numbers. As that hasnt happened in 5 months they will stay on board and drive the price with FAI.

What we shouldnt forget is that the FAI has been run as a boys club, sponsors, clubs, investors, board members, committee members, politicians....., JD would have done (dirty) deals with or looked after all of these people in the past and they know he has the chance to start naming and shaming. They will all now pull together with Conway and hope the problem goes away.

So this Con Martin bloke has sold the concept of the Johnny Giles foundation to the FAI for 300k? The whole thing makes no sense at all. Golf classics are hardly a new concept, either is pooling together to get a discount.

Is John Delaney still on full pay from the FAI? Is there any suggestion that Giles is tied up in this, or is he just unlucky that it's his name been used?
