*Meant to be homecoming but I can't change the thread title*

Anyone watching? Absolute cringeworthy stuff, basically making a mockery of the whole homecoming. Surely RTE could have come up with something better than this?!

What a shambles.....called his father a racist as well!
They should have consulted with the lads in Skibbereen who had a super homecoming for Gary and Paul

I would say they wouldn't cough up the appearance fee so he has gone to the pub instead.

    He owes them nothing.

No access to this at work - what's wrong with the whole thing?!

I just flicked on. I see the GAA "celebrities" are hopping on the bandwagon.

    Might be a blessing.

If only we'd seen this coming.

I mean, who'd have guessed Des Cahill ad-libbing on a makeshift stage at a sportsman's homecoming would turn out cringeworthy

Des bloody Cahill. God spare us from this misery.

His dad and two of his uncles were on the last Offaly team to win an All Ireland and Shane is a keen fan I believe.

Delighted for Shane. He's a sound guy but this is dreadful.

I take it RTE won't be releasing this on DVD for the christmas market.

Heard him on the wireless this morning discussing the homecoming, he sounded as if he spent the night gargling with Shane Lowry!

    He did actually :)

How is Shane Lowry live on the stage with Des Cahill, but also on the phone to Joe on Off The Ball?

    He can do anything!

For anyone who remembers 'Damien Duff Dizziness', they won't be surprised by this from RTE.

Probably be given away free with the Christmas edition of the RTE Guide.

I don't know why he doesn't just tell RTE to f*ck off, I know I would, milking his success

Shane Ross will probably drop down onto the stage by rope any second now.

I'm not sure he's too keen on it himself.

He was on the radio earlier hinting that it was too big an event, you get the feeling he just wants to celebrate with the actual local community, not every bandwagon-jumper from Birr to Athlone with only a passing interest in golf.

Remember the footballers getting a "homecoming" when they loose.
Can't remember any other sportsmen or women getting a shindig televised.

This is why I never understood this "nation of begrudgers" thing people say about Ireland. Any success, including bronze medals etc, is celebrated to the hilt.

There was a guy in a Spurs jersey outside his family's local. I'm thinking its JohnnyFlash.
