What's the bets there will be a curmudgeon caller about that video? :D (Joe chartering a plane to get back!)

I'm not saying he doesn't, just find it unlikely he drove back to dublin and left the family to go to Bar 37. I mean his daughter was hardly shoved in a car and put on the road late last night.

Irish Times says it's bar 37

he's cancelled Memphis to go on the lash. sure why not - might as well celebrate it!

It’s Bar 37. I know the manager and she had pics up on Facebook with Shane in the early hours celebrating.

On another note it’s mind blowing the lengths the anti Rory brigade will go to for their Rory bashing. I’ve seen quite a few people asking where rory was when Shane won and why he wasn’t there to congratulate him. Strange mindset to have.

Class - still in the gear - true Irish Man - lol

    Where is that ?
Still in his golf shoes. :)

I was in the stand at the 1st on round 1 when Lowry hit his tee shot.
When he started to walk up the hole the stand half emptied as people left to follow him.
They must have mistaken him for Tiger Woods.

I was mistaken. Duffy is back and has just been on RTE Radio plugging his show this afternoon. And Lowry`s victory yesterday will indeed be one of the topics on air.

The fact that he cleared out of portrush says a lot.

Says more about your mindset that you think there is anything in it tbh.

it's a bit too Rickie Fowler up there!

but most / all would plan to get the hell out of there - you don't count on winning in advance and make arrangements to stay on after on the Sunday.

Does anyone know why they dont present the second with a shield type thing on the 18th anymore?

I had thought that they usually do that. Was wondering why Fleetwood wasnt out there.

I've been in Portrush a bit - nice town etc.

But people are a bit naive or head in sand if they think a lad goes around with a load of paddies singing - " they stole Trevelyan's corn"

Looks like they had a great time - Dublin is after all the best place in Ireland :p

    Hanging around Dublin too :D

yeah the guy Alan Clancy who runs/ owns House , 37 and other places in Dublin and the Elmo guy seem to be "celebrity" golf mates with Mr. Lowry.

no doubt he'll keep it real by bringing it back to Clara during the week!

    Still buzzing after yesterday.

There are few occasions where I feel very nervous before a sporting event. An Irish person in an Olympic final with a chance of winning, your county in an all Ireland final or Ireland in the World Cup but the last 18 holes yesterday were right up there. Once he got past hole 14 which for some reason he hated all week and was also where James sugrue went awry, I relaxed a bit. One of the great Irish sporting days.

When exactly does the qualification period for the 2020 Ryder Cup start? At the start of next season or earlier than that? Whenever it is Lowry will surely finally make an appearance in the Cup.

I now see that, as far as European players are concerned, it will be the BMW Championship in September this year.

Having a guaranteed start in all the majors and probably the WGC events should give him a good chance of qualifying, but barring an alarming drop in form (like Willet had) I'd say he would be a good shout for a pick.

    You gotta love grannies! :)

She seems like a very funny laid back woman.
There was another bit on RTE where they asked Lowry's parents where he got the temperament to play under pressure like that.
They decided that he took after his Granny!
    I can see why now!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

What a great few days, unbelievable stuff. Was on fairway when everyone ran down the 18th and it was mental. Probably slightly dangerous at one point but marshalls did a great job. The set up was incredible I have to say, everything you needed only negative was when people were leaving I think there was room for a better system, some pretty peeved off individuals yesterday and things got heated with some.

Seen someone ask where the golfers stayed earlier, they were all over the place to be honest. Rose was in Portstewart while Holmes was in apartment block right next door to the course. Woods stayed in Ballycastle according to some, god knows there is plenty of houses to rent up here.

When he was walking down the 18th it was just unbelievable my good god. The crowds chanting his name and Ole Ole being roared, just class.

10 of the last 50 major winners born on this Island, some strike rate considering only 1 ever before that. Golf much more of a worldwide sport now also. 5 golfers as well showing it's no fluke. GUI must be getting something right.
