It was such an amazing tournament, one of the most enjoyable I've watch and with Shane winning was one of the best sporting moments...

It was also made a little better by a certain golfer missing the cut...
    Billiant...

Delighted for Shane that he got his big day out. Personally i think that'll be it for him Major wise but enjoy it!

As for Rory, i think this is going to go one of two ways.

Either he addresses his apparent mental weakness for big events over the last 5 years or he'll soon become yesterday's man winning the odd trophy here and there.

If he can address what the issue is i believe with his talent he can still win 10+ majors

Rumours doing the rounds that the Open will return to Portrush in 2024. Seems far too soon to be realistic.

    Highly unlikely

Only St Andrews would maybe get a turnaround that quick

The GUI have nothing to do with golfers on the island of Ireland?

Weird, as if you read their name carefully, its almost like it implies that it does.

    Mental Weakness - bit harsh.

I think he does too much press before the big events - all week it was talk of the famous 61 which I doubt helped him focus on just going out there and playing golf

    maybe....

Portrush has been guaranteed two more Opens in the next 30 years, but that will now be the bare minimum. Tickets were sold out and the attendance of 237,750 was the second biggest ever after St Andrews’s 239,000 in 2000. There was also a high demand for corporate hospitality, making it one of the most profitable Opens, while there was almost unanimous praise of the course from the players.

Did he get any ryder cups for this?

Surely Harrington has to pick him regardless?

That's Bar 37 on Dawson St. He's a regular there with his brother.

    no.

good chance of qualifying and good chance of being picked if he is showing decent form if not qualified.

obviously being a good friend of Harrington won't harm his chances either.

he's good mates with the guy who runs/owns it.

usually goes there if in Dublin.

All the talk was his 61 there as a 16 year old and he was rightly
    or wrongly tournament favourite.
Then he gets on the first tee and hits a quadruple bogey.
There is certainly some weakness there.

Whilst probably not possible - Shane should ban all social media and media from Esker hills - get on with a private function for members and family.

    But probably not realistic.

You want Shane to ban social media from the celebrations yet you think that video of the celebrations is class:confused::confused:

As far as I know Duffy is still on his (extended) summer holidays.

Is it? He went Portrush to Dublin in his golf shoes? And Bar 37 had traditional irish music playing for the first time ever?

Doesn't look like any bar around Portrush anyway

I was laughing out watching it yesterday listening to the fair weather fans and some of the commentary

"Shane has this, them English lads are useless in the wind"

"Unbelievable that Ireland has the best player in the world"

"So this means Northern Ireland get to host it again cause an Irishman won it"

I'm not saying he doesn't, just find it unlikely he drove back to dublin and left the family to go to Bar 37. I mean his daughter was hardly shoved in a car and put on the road late last night.

well I suppose that the media are always after him for comment and especially with the open being held up the north for the first time in nearly 70 years.

man he sh1t his pants on that first hole.

what is going on with his mouth at the start of this vid?
